North American game fans (and non-game fans alike) are, no doubt, getting ready for upcoming Fourth of July festivities - and to kick things off Ubisoft is unleashing a wave of new independence-themed Assassin’s Creed 3 info. Starting with the new “Independence” trailer (aka the official Fourth of July trailer) and continuing with a detailed breakdown of the North American Limited Edition, fans of Desmond Miles (and soon Connor Kenway) have a lot to celebrate this week....

With Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, developer Ubisoft took their open world title from last-gen to current-gen on the back of a swashbuckling adventure. But while AC 4 was a current-gen title, it didn’t necessarily have all of the flourishes gamers expect from a PS4 or Xbox One release. For Assassin’s Creed Unity, however, Ubisoft is pulling out all the stops and focusing exclusively on the current-gen platforms. As a result, the development team has been able to push their Anvil Engine in new and exciting ways....

The newest game from the Borderlands developer is a cooperative and competitive shooter that drops heroes from across the universe into an epic battle. For Activision, Call of Duty is the game that just keeps on giving. Last year’s massively successful Black Ops has sold almost 15 million copies in 2011 alone. Surprisingly, the news comes from an UbiSoft earnings report. With sales of 14,983,459 units, Black Ops is currently the best selling game of the year. When a new entry in one of a publisher’s most successful franchises starts to enter a downwards spiral, it’s not very often that they’ll scrap it altogether, sacrificing the brand’s integrity as faith in the project lays in tatters. But to this point, that has seemed to be the case with Rainbow 6: Patriots, a new iteration of the tactical team-based shooter which was set to bring the series into the next-gen, but after hitting several speedbumps in development saw multiple versions and millions of dollars flushed into the ether....

I was never a massive horror game fan, but my first time playing Resident Evil 7 changed all of that. Not only is it my favourite game in the series, but it’s my favourite game in the genre. Warner Bros.
