Though the real phenomenon for Minecraft is still taking place over on the PC, the Xbox 360 version of the game — available on the Xbox Live Arcade — is charting its own benchmarks as well. Just announced by developer 4J Studios today is the news that, as of New Year’s Eve, Minecraft has passed 5 million units in sales. For 4J Studios, Mojang, and the Minecraft property this is only icing on an already luscious cake as the game has already broken several records already....

Minecraft mania shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With over a hundred-million registered users, a whopping 14 million PC sales and a level of cultural influence usually reserved for brawny space shooters, Notch’s block building empire just keeps on getting bigger. The same might actually be said of the game’s ever-expanding bag of tricks, with every new update bringing with it a fresh perspective on the subterranean title. Creative Assembly’s take on the Alien franchise, which debuted in the form of Alien: Isolation, hit home for a lot of survival horror and Alien fans. Players take on the role of Amanda Ripley - daughter of the movie series’ Ellen Ripley - and explore a ship that’s been relatively cut off from the outside world and invaded by a lone (though still deadly) Xenomorph. After launch, reviews were largely mixed, with our own review praising the game’s atmosphere and invoking very real feelings of tension, but criticizing the actions of the Xenomorph itself, as well as certain design choices....

There’s a good chance that fans of Assassin’s Creed are still trying to process the closing moments of Revelations, but it’s important to remember that the story of Ezio Auditore doesn’t end with the most recent Ubisoft release. That honor belongs to the animated short film Assassin’s Creed: Embers, developed by Ubi Workshop to coincide with the launch of last month’s title. But does the film do justice to the Master Assassin of both Rome and Constantinople, or should die-hard fans stick with the story crafted by the developers?...

Among these is Bungie’s ambitious open-world sci-fi shooter Destiny, which is getting a PS4 bundle release that comes with a “glacier white” 500GB PS4, a DualShock 4 controller and a 30-day PlayStation Plus subscription. There’s no question that Destiny fans are primed and ready to dive into the new content that’s coming with the House of Wolves expansion. With new maps to fight on, new modes like Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris, new areas to explore, and new Strike missions to over come, House of Wolves is set to change the game in significant ways. As Bungie continues to lay the groundwork for introducing such a huge amount of new content next week, the developer has unfortunately come across a major technical issue that just might throw a monkey wrench into their upcoming release schedule....

Although the bulk of excitement for HD remakes is currently focused on games from just a year ago like Tomb Raider or The Last of Us (if fans get their way), action RPG enthusiasts are looking forward to revisiting the world of a game that is just a bit older than that…...

Expansions are the lifeblood of any long-running MMO. No matter how good a game may be, eventually all but the most die-hard loyalists are going to seek greener pastures if the game never offers anything new beyond the same old grind. But when the game in question suffered an ignominious launch that had some critics labeling it one of the worst games of all time, an expansion has a lot more to prove than just the MMO’s staying power....

She has made a significant living for herself by cosplaying video game characters, sharing “lewd content” with her fans on Snapchat, and posting strange videos on YouTube with a dead octopus, building a sizable social media following in the process. Belle Delphine stands out from similar models thanks to her “gamer girl” persona (which appears to be at least partly satirical), and her bizarre stunts, the latest of which is one of the strangest yet....
