Now that Warner Bros. has finally lifted the veil of secrecy surrounding Batman: Arkham Origins, fans of the Dark Knight can mark their calendars for the next time they’ll get the chance to walk in his shoes (cowl?). Surprisingly the game isn’t being developed by Rocksteady Studios, the team behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, but Warner Bros. Montreal. Set on Christmas Eve in Gotham City, Batman: Arkham Origins will be pitting Batman against eight elite assassins earlier in his career than ever before....

Shortly after Disney announced its landmark acquisitions of Marvel Comics and then LucasFilm, many figured it was only a matter of time before all of those various properties started bleeding together. Obviously, Marvel would still have its superhero films and there would still be Star Wars games — developed by Electronic Arts’ studios, no less — but the crossover potential was hard to overlook. One surefire crossover that is slowly coalescing into something real is the one between Disney Infinity and Marvel....

After a rocky start, Grand Theft Auto Online is now available to a majority of Grand Theft Auto 5 players. Problems persist, as a recent title update addressed a number of known problems while introducing a series of new glitches that caused select players to lose their multiplayer rank and character customizations. However, despite the setbacks, many gamers are still enjoying the online mode and continue to press ahead in the hopes that most of the major bugs are now in the past and that Rockstar Games will soon have the experience stabilized....

With The Master Chief Collection now firmly in the rear-view mirror, fans have begun to look towards the highly anticipated shooter, Halo 5: Guardians. It’s only fitting that with last year’s Call of Duty iteration, Black Ops, and Infinity Ward’s last most recent, Modern Warfare 2, being superseded by Modern Warfare 3, that Activision send out its extremely lucrative franchises out in style. Keeping that idea in mind, Infinity Ward has announced a double XP weekend for both Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, which will begin this Friday and run until next Tuesday. Chalk one win up to Modern Warfare 3 in the ongoing battle between it and its modern FPS competition, Battlefield 3, as the once fake site ModernWarfare3.com finally redirects to the official MW3 site. Starting first as an anti-Call of Duty fan site, and then blossoming into a Battlefield 3 official site redirect, the ModernWarfare3.com URL has been quite the headache for Activision. But, putting words into action, Activision was able to not only have the fake site brought down, but also earned the right to use the URL as they see fit (which we now know is to direct viewers to the official site)....

Not even a month after Blizzard were praising themselves for the longevity of World of Warcraft, a band of fans have revealed that they’re bringing the same kind of MMO flair to the popular StarCraft 2 universe. Aptly named StarCraft Universe, the game will be an unofficial mod supported on the battle.net systems, and will be playable by anyone who owns a retail copy of StarCraft 2. Inspired by the gameplay, quests, and challenges of World of Warcraft, StarCraft Universe intends to allow up to five players at a time to clash online after selecting species, class, and character....

The 2013 Microsoft media briefing is kicking into full gear here at E3 2013 with the announcement of something new and different for the Xbox One: games. First, Microsoft surprised us by bringing back the classic, combocentric fighter Killer Instinct. Then, followed up by not only introducing a new IP, but inducting a previously PlayStation exclusive studio into the Microsoft family with the new, open world shooter Sunset Overdrive. Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price took the floor promising an experience not unlike current MMOs in that the experiences and challenges can change daily and new events will be dictated by the community of players....

After a disappointing end to 2014, gamers are looking forward to a positive year for video games. If all goes well, we’ll see quite a few big hits from the the field of highly anticipated games. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has quickly become one of the most successful titles of 2011, selling 3.8 million copies on launch day alone. However, despite rave reviews across the board (read our Uncharted 3 review), one aspect of the game has been especially bothersome to certain gamers - gunplay aim settings. While problems with the game’s aiming have gone somewhat unnoticed by many players, there’s definitely a vocal group who were not only disappointed by the combat but also felt that the shooting mechanics entirely disrupted the Uncharted 3 experience....

From equipment and gear to consumable buffs and aid, the various supporting NPCs certainly know what can turn a profit in the post-apocalyptic dimension-hopping world of Remnant. There are sixteen of them in total if you include the ones that were added later by the DLCs of the Swamp of Corsus and Subject 2923....

Though home consoles, in their early days, didn’t boast enough pixel-pushing power to elicit genuine fear in most players, horror and video gaming have gone hand in hand since the inception of the medium. 3D Monster Maze tasked players with evading a monster in a pseudo-3D environment back in 1982, and Death Race 2000 pitted players against ghouls and zombies all the way back in 1976. Sure, the bleeps and bloops of old Atari 2600 and NES games aren’t all that terrifying today, but that doesn’t mean that retro gaming is totally devoid of quality horror....

When it comes to the iconic Super Mario Bros., it’s usually the enjoyable gameplay that takes center stage rather than the story or context. This isn’t surprising, as these areas can tend to be pretty nonsensical and bizarre. This is especially the case with the Wii’s Super Mario Galaxy, which has recently seen a renaissance with the limited-time Super Mario 3D All-stars on Switch. While Galaxy has remained one of the most renowned 3D Mario titles, there are some strange and head-scratching elements....

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War released on November 13th, 2020, bringing with it a tight single-player campaign, a multiplayer suite, and a zombies mode. How much you get out of these three offerings are all dependent on personal taste and gaming style, but there should be something for everyone to enjoy. Given the game’s nature, plenty of its facets are downright hilarious. The campaign has a surprising comedic bent, at least when compared to other titles in the franchise, but we’re not sure the developers intended for certain things to make us laugh so hard....

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a series of horror games that follows a franchise of “child-friendly” restaurants that take a terrifying turn when their animatronic mascots become haunted. Although the games started out as comparatively simple jump scare-filled fun, the lore of the game has expanded into a knotted mess of insane story beats that the community loves to pick apart. Naturally, fans have been inspired to create their own games based on the series....

Shortly after learning that Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is set to receive more single player content, in the form of a yet-to-be announced Desmond Miles DLC offering, we’re now getting word that the inevitable franchise follow-up, Assassin’s Creed 3 has been given an official release date. Get ready to re-enter the Animus for an all new Assassin’s Creed adventure this Fall - specifically October 30, 2012. Details remain extremely scarce about what we can expect from the upcoming title but Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, officially dropped the release date for the next installment in the third-person historical action franchise (which will make it’s purposed end of the world launch window) while speaking on an investors call....

An impressive new flight game by Bulkypix is out now for the iOS and has no problem standing out from other flight titles in the app store. Based on a real life air race event, Breitling Reno Air Races delivers a great flight sim experience with an exciting racing style. The tag line for the race is “Fly low. Go fast. Turn left.” and that echoes the rules of the game....
