Injustice: Gods Among Us, the new DC Universe brawler from Ed Boon and his team at NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), is slated to make its debut next April. A lot remains unknown about the game, not the least of which is how many playable heroes and villains it features, and exactly who they are (so far, only nine characters have been confirmed: Batman, Catwoman, Cyborg, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman and Wonder Woman)....

One of the hottest games releasing this year is Just Cause 3, the third game in the tropical-set, over-the-top open world action trilogy from Avalanche Studios. The developers have released tidbits of information about the game since its announcement a few months ago, including its focus on aerial combat. During a recent interview PC Gamer, Just Cause 3, game director Roland Lesterlin shared new details about the upcoming game. He highlighted the changes and improvements that developer Avalanche Studios hopes to add, including enhanced AI and random events....

Even though it is still yet to even receive a firm release date, it looks like Max Payne 3 might already be in the hole for more money than he bargained for. According to analyst Arvind Bhatia, Rockstar has already “sunk” about $105 Million on development for the third person action game, and will need to move a staggering amount of units just to break even. Bhatia even goes on to reveal that Max Payne 3 has a huge effort ahead of it if the title wants to even break even, let alone make a profit....

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is easily one of the most impressive games of the year, from its stunning visuals down to its incredible gameplay. The questing system will keep players engaged for hours upon hours with nary a step into the “main” story line. The world feels alive, fresh, and invigorating. That all being said, it is a shame that Skyrim was released with so many technical glitches and bugs....

At E3 this year we had our first chance to get up close and personal with the upcoming downloadable video game adaptation of H. G. Wells’ 1898 tale, The War of the Worlds. Developed by Other Ocean Interactive and published by Paramount Digital Entertainment, The War of the Worlds is a 2D side-scroller which features the lovely voice talent of Patrick Stewart. The game is inspired both by the original work of Wells and the classic 1958 sci-fi film (check out the screenshots)....

Just days after CD Projekt RED announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wouldn’t just be taking the existing series to brand new heights, but be the “final episode in the series,” the developers are clarifying their statements. The Witcher 3 will bring to a close the story of Geralt of Rivia, but won’t necessarily be the last game set within the world or franchise. As if that wasn’t enough of a relief, CDPR has released the first official teaser trailer for the game, along with a few screenshots showing the scale and polish of the new RPG’s environments....

Over the last few months, the games industry has faced significant backlash regarding loot boxes. There is currently an ongoing debate about whether loot boxes are gambling and players have also raised concerns about pay-to-win mechanics, and whether loot boxes and microtransactions should be included in games at all. Despite the ongoing controversy, a new survey of developers suggests that many still plan to include loot boxes in their games. Almost 4,000 developers were surveyed for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) State of the Industry 2018 report and asked questions about business models and platform launch plans....
