The settings are lush, vibrant, and the AI is generally impressive. With the introduction of multiplayer, up to four players can spring into a quest together, but the difficulty is automatically altered to match. Also, certain quests and investigations may only allow a maximum of two players, given their rewards....

Bloodborne, the upcoming role-playing game from From Software, is hard. How hard, exactly? Well, after confirming Bloodborne’s new game plus mode (an extra challenging version of the game that unlocks once the regular title is finished), director Hidetaka Miyazaki laughed and admitted, “We’re having trouble beating it.” That Bloodborne is challenging doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Miyazaki and From Software are the brains behind Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, two last-generation titles that both shocked and delighted gamers with their punishing difficulty....

On March 26, Borderlands 3 new DLC Guns, Love, and Tentacles was released, and with it came some massive changes for the game. Not only are players enjoying a new story line on a new planet, but they also have gained an increased level cap. With the level cap at 57 now, players are able to equip two capstone abilities and it’s bringing some crazy new class builds to Borderlands 3 that are drastically changing gameplay....

The latest entry into the Castlevania franchise titled Castlevania: Harmory of Despair at first glance seems to have all of the ingredients necessary for a fantastic game. The game reunites Castlevania alums from previous entries into the series and players can choose any one of them to progress through the game. The individual characters even have unique abilities, move sets, and magic at their disposal in order to take down Dracula and his minions....

After an ample amount of anticipation, Bethesda has finally pulled the curtain of Fallout 4. The game was teased in a recent countdown, with players being met with a debut trailer for the game when time finally ran out. This understandably set the internet ablaze with anticipation for the title, and the new environments for the game almost certainly contributed to that. While rumors have been swirling in regards to where Fallout 4 would be taking place leading up to its official unveiling, the teaser trailer has confirmed that Boston, Massachusetts will be every fans’ nuke-ridden playground this time around....

Now that Bethesda’s most recent release, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, has moved from its infancy into fully-fledged adulthood — a process brought on by the release of the well-received Dawnguard expansion — fans can began to speculate as to the nature of the developer’s next project. Kratos is back. Officially announced yesterday, by the game’s director Todd Papy, God of War: Ascension will be the next addition to the PS3 exclusive God of War series. Ascension will take us back before the beginning as a prequel to the classic trilogy of our tragic anti-hero. Although the official announcement was marked for yesterday, previous hints and job postings have been leading toward this day for quite some time....

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo series has always been without substitute. There are those that try, and some get close, but it’s hard to duplicate, let alone emulate, the amount of staggering detail that goes into the end product. Nowhere is that sentiment more evident than in Gran Turismo 6, the latest entry in the series. Gran Turismo 6 is everything fans could hope for, offering a ton of content for the hardcore and the casual gamer, and proving that there is no replacement for Sony’s racing franchise....

During Microsoft’s E3 2019 Press Conference, CD Projekt Red wowed fans with a brand-new Cyberpunk 2077 cinematic trailer detailing the seedy underbelly of Night City, which is full of interesting characters and weaponized prosthetics. At the end of the trailer a character named Johnny Silverhand appeared, and it became immediately clear he was played by Keanu Reeves. The actor himself showed up on-stage moments later to rapturous applause, and he hyped up the futuristic setting of Cyberpunk 2077 by calling it breathtaking....

Though our E3 preview, trailers, and first hands-on experience with the game had us thinking we had Mass Effect 3 pretty pinned down, Associate Producer Michael Gamble has come out to drop a few tidbits to make us realize we were all wrong. Talking about everything from upcoming DLC, weapon mods, and the game’s morality system, Gamble lets some juicy details fly — juicy details that make us much more excited for this game....

During the Microsoft press conference at E3 this summer it was announced that Minecraft would be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 and that it would also support Kinect. The indie PC sensation which has dominated YouTube and sold more than 4 million units - while still in beta - has done nothing but continue to grow and today marks the game’s official launch. The launch means little other than dropping the “beta” status as the game will continue to grow and receive updates just as it has all along, but it is a milestone worth celebrating nonetheless....

It was well established at E3 2014 that this would be a year of Sony pushing towards exclusivity. From Destiny early access to the Hulk in Disney Infinity 2.0; the PS3 and PS4 are all about offering timed-exclusives for Sony-loyal gamers. Waiting for a particular weapon or playable character for a few months is bearable for most shoppers who haven’t picked up a Sony console yet, but exclusive games like No Man’s Sky are a little harder to resist....

Hot on the heels of the box art for Beyond: Two Souls, the cover art for Splinter Cell: Blacklist has arrived. Featuring the franchise’s hero, Sam Fisher, in an action pose, the box art is all about creating a striking image. This is also the first Splinter Cell box art to feature Fisher’s iconic night vision goggles since Chaos Theory in 2005. We’d like to say that means the series is refocusing on stealth, but early trailers suggest both action and stealth will play a part going forward....

In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, a mysterious banner appeared that seemingly confirmed The Last of Us Remastered was coming to PS4. However, without an official announcement from Sony or developer Naughty Dog, many questioned whether the banner had appeared by mistake or if it was actually some sort of stealth reveal. While we will likely never know what actually transpired, Naughty Dog has finally come out to confirm that, yes, The Last of Us will be making the jump to the PS4 in a Remastered edition....

After a solid debut in March, Titanfall topped March 2014 NPD charts - and with a second wave of new players, via the game’s release on Xbox 360 in April, it appears that Respawn Entertainment has successfully built a strong franchise foundation. Recent word from Electronic Arts indicates the publisher expects to support development of Respawn’s new IP for many years to come - along with the possibility that Titanfall 2 could even make it to the PS4....

Lara Croft is an icon, and like all icons, she requires the occasional, careful tune-up if she’s to remain at her most relevant. This year’s Tomb Raider reboot provided one such kick, stranding the young adventurer on an island fraught with perilous pitfalls, ancient artifacts and the occasional, grisly impalement. Despite selling well-below expectations - but still selling very well - the latest entry in the evergreen Tomb Raider franchise did garner a rave reviews, enough in fact to convince the publisher Square Enix to commission a direct sequel....
