Nintendo is responsible for creating some of the most beloved games of all time. From Super Mario Bros to The Legend of Zelda, the brand has been synonymous with classic gaming gold. While the company has come a long way in terms of products, the good folks at Nintendo are still more than happy to let modern players enjoy a number of vintage titles, especially on the Switch. Classic arcade games have gotten HD ports, and there are even some modern titles designed to scratch that retro itch....

Last year, passion for Doki Doki Literature Club was reignited when its creator, Dan Salvato, announced that it would be getting new content. Unfortunately — probably due to COVID-19 development delays — nothing has been released yet. Salvato says that, ideally, 2021 will be the year. The creator could use a break after his YouTube was demonetized because he was using his own music. Despite looking the part of an innocent dating simulator, Doki Doki Literature Club is actually a disturbing visual comic that pushes our understanding of game development....

It wasn’t the first book about vampires and Stoker’s good friend, the actor Sir Henry Irving, walked out of an early reading of Dracula, muttering to himself and anyone within earshot how longwinded it was. So it didn’t have the most auspicious of beginnings. But Dracula has risen from the grave again and again. He is a Halloween staple. Dracula isn’t the only vampire in movies and there are vampire films that don’t have a drop of his blood....

Pokemon can come from a variety of places. Some are plants, some are undead spirits, and many are based on real-life animals. But, there are actually a few that are technically aliens. Ultra Beasts come to mind first, but they’re actually from another dimension, rather than regular outer space. There’s a reason Batman is still around after decades at the top of the comic book world, and Batman: Arkham Origins looks to highlight the tenacity of the dark knight like never before. Rather than using his detective skills to uncover a mystery, the game is pitting him against some of the world’s deadliest assassins. Of course, the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins may not have been everything some fans were hoping for....

Waiting for a new game is always tough, especially after seeing a lot of enticing things on offer in the trailers for Battlefield 4. As the first Battlefield game to be released on next-gen consoles, Battlefield 4 is going head-to-head with Call of Duty: Ghosts by offering their own equivalent of dynamic maps: a multiplayer level design feature dubbed ‘Levolution’ that creates ongoing changes within the game environment. Until Battlefield 4 is released, however, fans of the series are just going to have to subsist on details and gameplay footage, which luckily are in abundance....

Call of Duty: Ghosts might have expanded into strange new territory with its Extinction DLC, a four player co-op campaign that pitted players against an alien race, but Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is returning to more familiar territory with an upcoming zombie mode. As with the main game, one of the major new additions to this mode of play is the fact that zombies will now wear exo suits like the player, giving them an extra boost when they’re on the prowl....

Before the eyes of God, we will be judged. Death awaits us all. At least that’s what THQ would like us to believe. But Death isn’t awaiting us in this new live action trailer for Darksiders 2. No, Death is instead awaiting his chance to tear into some fierce looking baddies. Can Death become mankind’s savior? In a departure from the action and giant creatures presented in the cinematic Darksiders 2 trailer, this new live action trailer offers only a tease of the epic brutality Darksiders 2 is looking to convey....

Bungie has proven that Destiny is a game that’s never quite complete, especially since it is constantly tweaking and updating the title for players. While the majority of the changes have resulted from player feedback and behavior, planned expansions and weekly events have helped to keep the game feeling fresh even among those who feel the game lacks content. After launching Destiny’s first expansion pack, The Dark Below, last December, fans have been itching to get their hands on new content....

At their PS4 Launch Event, Sony came prepared with plenty of announcements to establish the PlayStation brand’s potential in the present and in the future. And, as we now know, that future includes an early trip to the world of Destiny for PS3 and PS4 players. Bungie COO Pete Parsons took the stage at New York’s Standard hotel to reveal that PS3 and PS4 players will gain early access to the Destiny beta when it goes live next year....

The original Killing Floor started out as a mod for Unreal Tournament 4 in 2005, but it eventually got enough traction to get picked up by Tripwire Interactive for an improved retail release in 2009. The first-person shooter threw wave after wave of zombies, or “Zeds,” at players, who were tasked with working together to survive the onslaught before regrouping to take on a final boss called the “Patriarch.” The game certainly had its flaws, like terrible voice acting and a ton of repetition, but it was that same repetition that gained it a cult following....

It’s two months after E3 and that means it’s time for the other massive video game event of the year: Gamescom. The annual trade show in Cologne, Germany is just as big as E3 and with 2014’s event beginning tomorrow, today hosts the large press conferences. Microsoft was up first and they came out strong with new trailers and a few surprise exclusive announcements that’ll help the company boost Xbox One sales....

The noisy approach to combat was a big focus of the game’s original reveal at last year’s E3 preview, so it’s understandable that the studio would want to appeal to gamers with a range of preferred gameplay styles. But then, there’s no shortage of generic cover-based military shooters out there, and one of the staples of the Splinter Cell series from the very beginning has been its focus on stealth abilities and smart infiltration, rather than simply wading in with guns blazing....

It’s now day 2 of Gamescom 2020, and that means a fresh batch of news and trailers from across the gaming industry. Among them is the story-rich adventure game The Wild at Heart, which got a new Gamescom trailer and a 9-minute gameplay video. The Wild at Heart follows the story of two kids as they stumble into a strange and vibrant fantasy world, dealing with themes of childhood escapism. In the new video, players lead magical swarms of creatures around in gameplay that is reminiscent of games like Pikmin....
