In the last year or so, the local competitive experience has seen a renaissance unlike any other. The fourth generation of The Sims was announced back in May, and EA promised additional details at Gamescom last week. Among these new announcements is the relieving revelation that the game will be playable offline, leaving players without a steady internet connection safe from running into DRM problems after they legally purchase the title. FTL: Faster Than Light had humble beginnings as a Kickstarter project from a two-man studio before it blossomed into a fully-funded indie smash hit. It’s been a rough couple of days for Microsoft and Sony.
