As the final quest-based DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, “Lonesome Road” has quite a challenge ahead of it. After an extremely disappointing demo at E3 last year, Kinect Star Wars jumped from potential product mover to proof positive that Microsoft’s motion controller is a little rough around the edges. Now it appears that title has been pushed back until Spring 2012 to help give it more fine tuning, and hopefully prove gamers’ initial reservations wrong. Capcom’s last game in the Lost Planet series wasn’t met with much excitement at retailers when it launched back in 2010, and many fans feared that the franchise may come to an end after lackluster sales. Capcom has a different solution to scrapping their struggling franchise though — and that is to give the series a complete facelift/reboot with the newly announced Lost Planet 3. Spark Unlimited, the new developer for Lost Planet 3, will be taking up the mantle for the third installment in the bizarre third-person shooter property....

Nintendo 3DS owners have definitely had it good as of late, and momentum for the handheld doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With several Triple-A titles set to hit the portable in the coming months, one that easily stands out as a must-have game is Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. It would seem that the wait for Snake’s 3DS debut won’t be much longer either, as Konami has officially announced that they plan on launching Snake Eater 3D in North America next month....

The sequel to Mirror’s Edge, the fan favorite franchise about first person parkour in a futuristic city, has had a rough couple of years. With news breaking that DICE has delayed the project a number of times throughout the past four years, fans have been eager to get a taste of what Mirror’s Edge 2 is bringing to the current gen table. While the game has been previously announced and given a release window, EA has remained pretty tight lipped about the project outside of a couple brief videos at the past couple of E3 events....

While the iconic fighting game series hasn’t bee home only to winners over the years, the most recent Mortal Kombat proved that the property can still yield results. And with Kevin Tancharoen’s live-action web series Mortal Kombat Legacy not only beginning its second season this fall, but getting the green light for a feature film reboot, another age of MK on film may be beginning. We got the chance to sit down and speak to the cast of Legacy at San Diego Comic Con 2013, and the one thing they all agreed would be a big hit with fans come Season 2 has been a long time coming: violence on par with that doled out in the game itself....

Still one of the Xbox One’s most anticipated first party exclusives, news on Quantum Break has been relatively scarce since the game was first announced back at E3 2013. Presented as an evolution in both gameplay and narrative, Remedy Entertainment has set out to produce one of the most ambitious pieces of interactive storytelling to date - blending the video game and TV mediums into a single experience. As players progress through Quantum Break, their decisions will be reflected in a companion live-action series - which, reportedly, provides further insight into the game’s villains....

Welcome to our regular gameplay impressions and video post where we record our first 10-30 minutes with a new game, and provide some general impressions on that early playthrough. Today’s game is: Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman from developer Hexage. Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman started out initially as a mobile game, and received generally positive reviews when it first debuted. Now, the game is making the jump to the PC in the hopes of drumming up something similar to its success on iOS and Android....

Without Crystal Dynamics, it’s possible that Tomb Raider wouldn’t be around today. After struggling for years under the stewardship of Core Design, the series moved to Crystal Dynamics, who breathed new life into the franchise with the so-called Tomb Raider Trilogy. These three games (Tomb Raider: Legends, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and Tomb Raider: Underworld) reinvented the classic jungle-crawler by introducing modern controls, better level design, and updated graphics. For the first time since the mid-90s, Tomb Raider felt fresh....

With the next installment in the iconic Tom Clancy Splinter Cell franchise releasing in a few short weeks, Ubisoft is opening the floodgates on detailing and teasing the game’s story and gameplay features. For fans of the series, there has been some disappointment over the marketing emphasis on all-out gunfights as opposed to the stealth action gameplay the series is known for. In the newly released trailer for Splinter Cell: Blacklist, players get another brief glimpse of more stealth-related activity, punctuated by 24-style countdown effects....

Released at the beginning of 2014, Titanfall was the first game from Respawn Entertainment, the team founded by Call of Duty developers Jason West and Vince Zampella. The game’s reviews were mostly positive, with critics saying that the gameplay, which let players control human ‘pilots’ and their giant ‘Titan’ mechs, was a great blend between fast-paced, CoD-like action and futuristic gameplay elements. However, some reviewers were unhappy with its lack of a campaign mode, as it meant that if Titanfall players were offline, they would be left with very little to do....

Movie tie-in video games rarely make a splash as must-buy titles for hardcore players. Instead, the games are often marketed to the broadest audience possible for an easy cash grab - one that requires modest development and can, generally, be ported to a wide range of gaming platforms. For that reason, it should come as no surprise that Activision is (once again) publishing a Transformers movie tie-in - set to expand on the events of Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction....

Half-Life 2’s development history is well documented at this rate. Valve hasn’t been shy about making the game by any means, but it is thanks to a notorious hacker that Half-Life fans know so much about the game’s beta. As one of the most devastating leaks in video game history, a hacker was able to leak Half-Life 2’s beta files a year before the game officially released. While damaging to Valve, these files give great insight as to what was cut and changed before the game launched....

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath goes above and beyond the typical fighting game expansion. In addition to the expected additional characters and stages, NetherRealm Studios also added Friendships and a whole new story mode, which takes place after base game’s conclusion. The five chapters take between two to three hours to complete, and follows Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Fujin as they travel back in time to steal Kronika’s Crown of Souls to prevent time and existence from falling apart....
