The Nintendo Switch has had a rather quiet year in terms of exclusives, even with the releases of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Paper Mario: The Origami King. But then there was Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, a party game developed by NDcube that was a successor to the Nintendo DS game, dubbed simply Clubhouse Games. The game has been widely popular since its release, with many finding one or two games they enjoy playing either by themselves or with their friends....

Over the past few years, battle royales have become the primary game mode when it comes to online competitive gaming. The popularity of games like Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, and PUBG shows that fans can’t seem to get enough of this concept. Even industry titan Call of Duty moved to cash in on the trend with Warzone. While the success of the game mode can be measured by how many players are consistently active or by how much yearly revenue each title makes, the best way to represent how important the genre really is would be to gauge the impact it has had on the gaming industry as a whole....

Alright, so maybe that initial trailer for the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog movie hasn’t exactly given our favorite speedster a good name. Still, he’s been a flagship platformer for Sega and a juggernaut franchise since 1991, even accumulating his own cartoons. Team Sonic Racing is a solid kart game, so don’t let the prospect of another silly video game movie get you down. Sonic’s just tapping his foot, he’s already moving on to the next big thing....

Unfortunately, it looks like the date was more tentative than we once thought. In a Q&A on their website today, THQ announced that Darksiders II will now be bumped back to the month of August for a global release. The exact regional dates will be disclosed in the coming days, but THQ insists that the brief window is merely for squeezing out a few more bugs and adding some polish to the game – it’s not to foreshadow any future setbacks....

Once considered the heir-apparent to the survival horror genre (after the Resident Evil series moved toward increasingly action-heavy combat), it now appears as if Dead Space 3 has taken a number of pages from Capcom’s recent zombie franchise installments. While co-op was long rumored for the next Dead Space, recent footage has shown that the subsequent experience utilizes a greater focus on large scale action events (not to mention large scale environments) - at the expense of the nerve-wracking atmosphere in the first two games....

The Grand Theft Auto series has seen a lot of interesting mods, cheats, and glitches over the years. Whether it’s something as simple as spawning items using Rockstar’s own cheat codes or modifying the game into a three-dimensional Flappy Bird, there’s something for every Grand Theft Auto player. One modder is already hard at work bringing similar modifications to the wildly popular PC port of Grand Theft Auto V. Last week’s Operation Fortress weekend event for Mass Effect 3 granted all players a 25% bonus on all experience points earned. While unlike Operation Goliath the week prior, there were no Victory Packs or Commendation Packs rewarded, Operation Fortress was meant to help players level up their character classes for the following event that BioWare only hinted at briefly on their blog. Quantum Break was one of the first major games announced for the Xbox One more than two years ago. Coming from Remedy, the developer behind Alan Wake, Quantum Break was supposed to stand toe-to-toe with Sony’s exclusives. At the time, Microsoft said that the project “blurs the line between gaming and TV by integrating drama and gameplay into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience.” Xbox head Phil Spencer later cited the game as an example, along with Sunset Overdrive, of new IP that is critical for the Xbox One’s success....

The sixth and final RAGE gameplay video has been released with just a little time to spare until the game’s launch in the first week of October. The Order: 1886 stole the show at last December’s PlayStation Experience. While most booths at Sony’s Las Vegas-based expo only had a short wait, attendees stood in line for over three hours for a shot at The Order: 1886’s twenty minute demo. Other games (especially No Man’s Sky) might have gotten a bigger promotional push, but the chatter on the show flow was all The Order, all the time. The anticipation isn’t surprising....
