Although it has been more than a year since Diablo 3 was released on PC and Mac, many consumers have yet to forget the pain and frustration associated with what is now looked back on as one of the most painful single-player game launches in history. In the 15 months since the less than ideal launch of the hack and slash dungeon crawler, Blizzard Entertainment has released a long series of updates and fixes that have all made their way over to the new console port of Diablo 3....

Releasing on March 19, Gears of War: Judgment didn’t receive the Fall/Holiday release treatment given to its trilogy predecessors and most blockbusters of their ilk – and anticipation seems to have adjusted accordingly. We have high hopes for the shooter building on the sterling success of Gears of War 3, all the while discovering fresh, Emergence Hole-spotted ground back before the narrative period of Gears 1, but the height of its time in the gaming spotlight all year still remains this February, when its opening cutscene and full multiplayer component was leaked online....

But now that we know it will be winter of 2012 before the game’s released on the PSN and Xbox Live, there will be plenty of time for speculation....

Despite the competition of digital card games that have been around a lot longer, like Magic: The Gathering Online, Blizzard’s World of Warcraft spin-off card game has used its combination of free entry and polished effects to become one of the most popular games in the digital cardboard genre. To keep things fresh for card players, games like Magic release a new batch of cards at least four times per year....

After debuting all the way back in April 2011, not to mention racking up Game of the Year awards around the industry, Valve recently gave players a reason to return to their testing chamber for more Portal 2 puzzle solving. Announced yesterday, the Portal 2 “Perpetual Testing Initiative” DLC finally brings level editor functionality, which was previewed in a PC beta last May, to the Steam Workshop platforms (specifically Mac and PC)....

Out of the vast library of XBLA titles to release over the years many have struck a chord for different reasons. While Limbo was the “art house” gem, and Braid was the unique puzzler, one title, Shadow Complex, was like a full scale retail release, only told from the 2D perspective. Though Shadow Complex’s developer ChAIR Entertainment is currently working on titles, like Infinity Blade, for the iOS, Epic Games (co-developer on the project) hasn’t forgotten about their popular downloadable game....

When most companies promote their game, they usually send some kind of cardboard display to set up for the passing public in hopes they will walk in, remember that game is coming out, and pre-order/buy it. With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the developers are going in a different direction. Bethesda’s going to be sending out huge bronzed statues of Skyrim’s ‘Dragonborn’ warrior to lure customers in with the promises of dragon slaying on an unrivaled scale....

Here’s the deal: Game Rant’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt review codes didn’t arrive until Monday, just a few hours before everyone else got their hands on the game. As far as reviews go, that’s a problem: as everyone knows by now, The Witcher 3 is absolutely gigantic. Any player who was heavily into PC gaming in the early 2000s would be well aware of a little-known title known as Deus Ex, which blew everyone’s minds when it was released. Released back in February, Astroneer is a tremendously fun sandbox game—if the genre already suits you well. You’ll need great organization skills to achieve the many goals you will naturally develop across the various planets and moons to explore. Unlike Minecraft, there are no armed Skeletons or mischievous Creepers here. Only toxic plants, perilous drops, and your own foolish oversight. Nonetheless, survival is a constant worry, and even experienced players can end up suffocating or falling to their death in the name of science....

Depending on the player’s build, there are different things one will look for in armaments. Stats play a huge role in the effectiveness of a weapon, therefore it can be useful to plan ahead. With Doom Eternal fresh in everyone’s minds, it seems like a good time to talk about the story and lore implications of the mythical Doom Slayer. Of course, Doom isn’t such a renowned franchise because of the quality of its story, but this incarnation tried more than some of the other games to include a lot of the niche lore tidbits. Created by Insomniac Games, it is a follow-up of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and both are highly beloved for their wonderful story and immersive gameplay. Insomniac Games went above and beyond with these games. If you loved the previous Spider-Man game, you’ll fall in love with this one as well. It may be a shorter game in scale and length, but the amount of time you can spend in it just mastering combat and traversal can be hefty....

When battle royals like Fortnite became popular a few years, many others like Call of Duty and Firestorm followed that formula. It became a stale template. However, the surprising release of Apex Legends has changed the landscape of the battle royale genre.
