Video game companies do their best to develop aesthetically pleasing console designs. After coming up with a design that not only works well but looks good, companies prepare to share the news with the public. The response isn’t always positive. Though players are excited about next-gen games, they may find the look of the consoles displeasing. While gamers were mostly positive about the design of the PlayStation 2, they mocked the PlayStation 3’s bulky design....

When developer Patrice Desilets split from Ubisoft, the fallout was messy. Desilets, best known for his work as the director of both Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed 2, left the company after briefly working on Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, following a dispute over the level of creative control he was allowed. From there, Desilets founded a new studio with publisher THQ, and began working on a new game, titled 1666. Unfortunately for Desilets, Ubisoft would once again become a major part of his career....

Fact: Bloodborne is hard. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, given director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s reputation, but it bears repeating. Like Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls before it, Bloodborne isn’t a game that players can simply bash their way through. Victory in Bloodborne only comes after carefully observing enemies, coming up with plans, and not giving up after those plans inevitably go straight to hell. So, yes, Bloodborne is hard - but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible....

According to reported statistics, Riot Games’ popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) League of Legends, made the developer upwards of $600 million in 2013. Despite earlier evidence to the contrary it appears Dragon Age III: Inquisition, BioWare’s forthcoming next entry in their medieval fantasy series, is headed to the next- gen. Thus far we hadn’t heard too much about the game, beside BioWare’s decision to incorporate fan feedback into early development and the adoption of the Frostbite 2 engine, and it looks like we will be waiting a little longer for anything substantial. According to a resume from an EA Shanghai level designer, Dragon Age 3 is now targeting the next generation of platforms, and has been delayed into 2014....

Gamers received a nice tease last week when NetherRealm Studios released the game’s story mode trailer showing off additional characters that had yet to be seen. After months of speculation, we now know that we’ll see the first official footage of the hotly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront at next month’s Star Wars Celebration event. Ahead of that unveiling, fans have been supplied with yet another tease in the form of a new version of CG footage from the Battle of Hoth that gamers first saw a couple of years back. The thirty-second video depicts the ice planet of Hoth torn apart by combat, with debris from ships and other vehicles littered amongst snow drifts....

Ubisoft’s arcade racer The Crew is only a couple of weeks away. After a strong showing at E3 2013, The Crew sort of disappeared relative to the other 2014 Ubisoft releases; as such, it was hardly surprising when the The Crew’s launch date was changed from “early 2014” to November 11. The second delay came as more of a shock; shortly before the game’s release, Ubisoft and developer Ivory Tower said that The Crew simply wasn’t ready, and moved the title to December 3....

Before it slipped to 2014, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs was one of, if not the, most highly anticipated launch titles for the next-gen consoles. More importantly, it was a game that many thought would leverage the power of these new systems in some creative ways. Although Watch Dogs is no longer the hopeful launch title, it’s still one of the biggest releases of this year. And as a result, a lot of attention has been paid to almost every facet of the game, from its unique take on multiplayer to its pre-order bonuses....

The basic rule of good romantic stories is that the main heroes will end up together. They might have to face many ordeals before they can get their happy ending. However, these ordeals usually serve to bring the heroes together, even closer. The final idyllic ending gives hope not just to the characters but to the audience as well. Then there are those movies that turn the genre conventions upside down....

Batman is one of the oldest and most popular superheroes out there. He first appeared in the comics all the way back in May 1939. Batman has had multiple live-action feature films over the years but he most recently appeared in the DCEU, portrayed by Ben Affleck. Batman’s less than sunny personality might make it seem like there’s no chance to make fun of him, but the fans are creative and they managed it anyway - by making various memes about the caped crusader....

The stand out type of the 1st generation, mostly due to Pikachu’s rise to superstardom as Ash’s sidekick. The brand new game Paper Mario: The Origami King is all the rage right now. Nintendo Switch owners can immerse themselves in another Paper Mario world. They control the titular hero on a journey to save the Mushroom Kingdom from becoming all origami. Players get to experience all the classic elements of Paper Mario along with some new features. Some fans are being extra creative with their approaches to Paper Mario: The Origami King, mainly by creating memes and making jokes about various aspects of the game....

The Nintendo Switch seems to be going from strength to strength, with the console often being sold out as more and more people join the fandom. Destiny 3 is at least 3 years away, following Bungie’s recent announcement of 3 upcoming major expansions for Destiny 2: Beyond Light this November, The Witch Queen in Fall 2021, and Lightfall in Fall 2022. Following their split from Activision in 2018, Bungie shifted their focus away from making Destiny a trilogy and toward making a long-lasting, evolving world. Whether Destiny 3 comes in the form of a proper sequel or only as a massive overhaul of Destiny 2 (with the latter looking increasingly likely), there are many quality-of-life changes and story developments fans would like to see in the next iteration of Destiny....
