This Friday Square Enix held the latest Final Fantasy 14 Letter from the Producer Live event. During the broadcast, the lead developers of Final Fantasy 14 broke down the upcoming 5.4 patch, which will arrive on December 8. But Square Enix wasn’t content just to focus on short-term content updates. There are bigger plans for the MMO than what’s coming in December. A bigger announcement was also teased with the confirmation of a Final Fantasy 14 Announcement Showcase in February 2021....

Helicopters provide vital and fast transport across the map in Call of Duty: Warzone. While some players avoid them due to the danger of giving away their position, others see the advantage of transporting the entire squad at once. Recently fans have noticed that it is surprisingly easy to destroy these flying transports. Although the helicopters in Call of Duty: Warzone have flares to throw heat-seeking missiles, there seems to be a much larger threat present, though not many are sure where the problem originated, leading many to blame the last patch for the small adjustment....

For many long-time gamers, PC or otherwise, there is one title that sticks out as the breakthrough first-person shooter, and grandfather of an entire genre of video games. id Software’s Doom redefined the industry in December of 1993, and pushed the limits of what was thought to be possible with a 16mhz processor - a far cry from the multi-core, multi-gigahertz processors that exist today. Dying Light could end up being the biggest surprise of the year. Heading into the title’s January debut, things didn’t look good: despite a promising showing the previous year, the latest E3 demo failed to impress. The game was delayed. Shortly before Dying Light arrived in stores, production problems postponed the game’s international release. Even after the game came out, the title was plagued by glitches and controversy surrounding the game’s review copies....

Although we didn’t make a proper Best of E3 2013 list, one of the titles that caught our eye amongst the deluge of reboots, remakes, sequels, and prequels was Dying Light. According to the domain name detectives over at Fusible, Xbox’s premiere shooter has extended its Internet bubble shield to encompass 5 new web pages. It may have been months since Commander Shepard gave the Reapers what they had coming - or didn’t - but the developers are promising that the adventure to save Earth - or not - is far from finished. The universe created in the series may be a rich one, but Mass Effect 3 is without a doubt Shepard’s story. As such, the story DLC being planned is looking to remain focused around the game’s hero specifically....

The first major update (open beta update #8) since the holidays came to the free-to-play MechWarrior Online earlier this week and with it, Infinite Game Publishing and Piranha Games announced the game’s first event weekend where players can earn bonus experience points just for playing as normal. Comedian and current paper-eating, wise-cracking, fake-soldier-pitchman for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s DLC, Rob Riggle, is back to introduce the trailer for next week’s upcoming content drop that will be available for Xbox 360 Elite subscribers on March 13. Last February saw only one content drop for Elite members (Overwatch), and it’s likely that early purchasers of Call of Duty Elite’s “Premium” plan haven’t quite felt the impact of their $50 investment....

To celebrate the launch of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… later this week across PS4, Xbox One and PC, Square Enix has transformed some of the game’s beloved characters into intricately detailed paper sculptures. Christened as NieR-Igami (insert groan here), they are wonderfully designed and represent the game’s personalities so well. Sure, Emil’s face is looking a little worse for wear, but I challenge you to make a perfect circle out of paper - I imagine it’s fairly damn difficult....

As time marches on, the bar set by Playtonic Games’ KickStarter project, Yooka-Laylee, only gets raised higher and higher. Being dubbed a “Rare-vival” by the former Rare staffers filling the developer’s ranks, this game is built to be a spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo-Kazooie series. The crowd-funded game has already become to quickest title to reach the $1 million mark on the site, and it doesn’t appear to be showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon....

Final Fantasy IX, for many people, is the best Final Fantasy game. The reasons for this can be as numerous as the sands of the sea. The game’s charm comes out through its characters, visual style, and setting. Another important thing is that it felt a lot more like traditional fantasy, especially after the likes of VII and VIII. This naturally means that a lot of people grew to love the characters and designs and sought out a way to express their love....

Split-screen is dead. With today’s graphics, it’s a real shame, since it would finally be a lot easier to see what’s actually going on. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone wants split-screen gone, and cooperative multiplayer is still a desired, widespread feature online. Recall that 343 Industries infamously frustrated many long-time Halo fans after removing split-screen in Halo 5. Of course, that was the least of that game’s controversies. But believe it or not, friends may actually want to visit each other, and families might want to play video games together—between arguments....

Final Fantasy fans are living the dream right now. The series is probably in the best place it has been since the early 2000s when Final Fantasy X came out, completing a string of solid legendary 3D games spanning from 1997 to 2001. Final Fantasy XIVis riding high, Final Fantasy XVI is on the horizon, and of course Final Fantasy 7 Remake made dreams come true. As detailed and big as the first entry in the remakes is, several important characters did not manage to make the cut....

Fighting games are something most people can enjoy. There’s just something about this genre of games that gets the adrenaline going. It’s really satisfying to land a stylistic finishing move on an opponent or show off to friends with well-timed combos. Though, it is annoying to finally reaching the last fight of the game and immediately get annihilated by the game’s boss. The boss is meant to be the strongest and most difficult opponent, but sometimes the game goes too far and makes them too strong....

The annual Electronics Entertainment Expo is always a great source for exciting announcements and 2018 was no different. Fans were given looks at plenty of previously announced games like Spider-Man, Anthem, and The Division 2. Of course, developers and publishers use this massively popular event to make announcements as well, surprising viewers with unexpected news like the teaser trailers for Halo: Infinite and The Elder Scrolls 6, even if they didn’t reveal much in the way of game details....
