Aliens: Colonial Marines developer TimeGate Studios has closed its doors and laid off its entire staff. Things were not looking good for the developer after they filed for bankruptcy last week, and now this company-wide layoff confirms those fears. TimeGate Studios’ financial troubles date back even further than the Chapter 11 filing, to a court case with publisher SouthPeak Interactive, who alleged TimeGate owed them a substantial amount of money. In April, TimeGate lost their appeal against SouthPeak, and subsequently accrued a $7....

The trend of major titles receiving a special ’limited edition’ release is something that any video game fan will be quite familiar with at this point — but it’s much less common for the bonuses contained within these special releases to spoil the game’s plot. As we all expected them to, Treyarch has finally confirmed the existence of the first DLC pack for Black Ops 2, Revolution, and announced it will release on January 29th. Featuring four new multiplayer maps, a new Zombies map and mode, and a new weapon, Revolution could prove to be the most substantial DLC package the Call of Duty franchise has seen yet. Alongside the announcement Treyarch also released a 5-minute video (featured above) that walks players through all the Black Ops 2 maps and the new mode, explaining what new elements they bring to the table....

For over a decade, the Call of Duty franchise has been making a play for gamers’ money. Every year, publisher Activision releases a brand new edition of the first-person shooter, including bigger set-pieces and even performances from Academy Award-winning actors to get people interested. Last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare turned Call of Duty’s usual gameplay on its head by throwing super-powered exo suits into the mix. That was done in an attempt to revitalize the franchise after several years of sliding sales but Advanced Warfare actually sold less than 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts....

Sequels can be a tricky things. It’s been almost two years since we last saw Mr. Mouse artistically save Wasteland in Disney Epic Mickey. In Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Mickey is joined by Oswald the Lucky rabbit, one of Walt Disney’s first original characters. That’s right – two of Disney’s most iconic figures must join forces to save Wasteland once again! Right off the bat, players will be thrown in a mini tutorial reminding them how to use the paint and thinner....

When making a fantasy RPG as vast and complex as Dragon Age Inquisition, the developers generally have more important things to worry about than how differences in console resolutions will be perceived among consumers and competitive fans. But that won’t stop Xbox One and PS4 owners from debating the importance of pixels, as the differences in console resolution have been released by BioWare - along with the PC specs expected to put both to shame (not that it’s a competition)....

Turtle Rock Studios’ “asymmetrical first-person shooter” Evolve hit shelves in February, giving players the chance to face off in a battle between massive alien beasts and heavily armed hunters. The game launched with three monsters and a dozen hunters, but the lineup is about to expand with the release of a first wave of new DLC characters. Evolve’s first major update goes live on March 31, adding the Behemoth monster and four hunters: Torvald (assault), Crow (trapper), Sunny (support), and Slim (medic)....

Final Fantasy XIII managed a mediocre review here on Game Rant, but has managed to ship 6.2 million units world wide since its release in March 2010. It’s forthcoming sequel received a North American release date and two new trailers at TGS 2011. Final Fantasy XIII-2 promises extraordinary level design with more exploration opportunities (check out the environments in these screenshots), which would be a big step up from the linear design of FFXIII....

Though the initial excitement of LittleBigPlanet 2 might have died off a few weeks after the Sony exclusive’s release, fan created content helped keep the title going long after the Media Molecule created levels were left devoid of collectibles. In fact, in the case of LittleBigPlanet, fan created content far outweighs anything that Media Molecule could have hoped to put together in a couple years of development. As announced on Twitter, LittleBigPlanet has now amassed some 6 Million user created levels, a staggering number to say the least....

Even as we neared the release of Mortal Kombat X on April 14th, many fans continued to hold out hope that the game’s roster might eventually include their favorite character or characters. Today, however, NetherRealm Studios seemingly closed the door on roster additions, confirming the cast of 29 Mortal Kombat X fighters. News of the full roster comes via today’s Kombat Kast, in which NetherRealm Studios gave gamers a closer look at the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X and showed off some new character variations for fighters like Sonya Blade....

Those keeping up to date on all things Xbox One will certainly have heard of the leaked video of the new dashboard in action. While we wait to see how Microsoft will respond to the leak, a close inspection of the video has revealed an as-yet-unannounced property that is already being referenced on the new console’s dash. We don’t know if Savage Frontier is being kept secret for a specific reason, its notable placement in the Xbox One dashboard is worth a closer look....
