The Liberty City sandbox provided endless hours of entertainment and the unique mission structure laid the foundation numerous other titles would follow. Despite all of its innovations, it was far from the first open-world game. In fact, the genre goes back more than a decade before the 2001 PlayStation 2 opus. Most of the games featured on the list do not feature the same gameplay as the wacky crime caper, but they are nonetheless impressive open-world games ahead of their time....

A big livestream event was meant to capitalize on a recent Youtube trend, but ended up exposing an entire box of fake Pokemon cards. The channel Dumb Money worked out a deal to scoop up a box of First Edition Pokemon cards - ones from the very first set. They meant to film the $375,000 exchange, verify the cards by opening on stream, and auction them off for charity. Instead, they found a bunch of fakes....

Despite being offered on four consoles, Sony was determined to make Destiny a PS4 selling point when the first-person shooter launched earlier this fall. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City won’t be just a walk in the park. Fans of the Resident Evil series curious about the game’s achievements list will be able to rest at peace if they died tomorrow because the complete list for both its campaign and online components have been revealed. Of course this isn’t just any player’s grandfather’s Resident Evil game. In Operation Raccoon City the tables have turned and gamers will be switching teams to play for the Umbrella Corporation, able to change events of Resident Evil’s history, which should make for an interesting line-up of achievements....

Few franchises have managed to prove that video games are made to be fun, first and foremost, to the same extent as Saints Row. A new trailer for the highly anticipated Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, has been released – this one focusing on the Jedi Consular class. While the trailer is more cinematic and less informative than some might like, it does show off many of the abilities/capabilities of the Consular, namely their ability to buff their teammates and debuff their enemies. Of course, being a Jedi, the Consular isn’t without the assistance of their lightsaber, so don’t expect this to be a class that sits back and only heals their teammates, but they can do that too....
