Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a game that took the world by storm without a hitch. Though many will argue that the game’s success was due to the popularity of its predecessor, the quality of this game itself is nothing to be scoffed at. Insomniac Games made a fantastic game and they were able to create a Miles Morales character that is both familiar and unique at the same time. Although the game is smaller in scale, players will still be able to invest hours upon hours of playtime if they want to see everything this game has to offer....

March 2020 is both the 3rd anniversary of Mass Effect Andromeda and the 8th anniversary of Mass Effect 3 and despite this milestone, there is still no word of what is next in store for the Mass Effect franchise. That said, the one thing that is known for sure is that the franchise, in some way, shape, or form, will continue. One of the likeliest options for the series is to hold its head high and move past the disappointment of Andromeda into a sequel that can keep the exciting plotlines the game started while moving past the spin-off’s errors....

As much as writers and video game developers try to close off every potential plot hole or inconsistency in their product, the inevitably truth is that some are going to slip through the cracks no matter how much effort is put into preventing this. This is also the case in Bloober Team’s latest title, The Medium. While the entire game centers around the player discovering various aspects of what happened in Marianne’s past and the cause of the Niwa Massacre, many events that come up in the story don’t make as much sense on a second pass as the game would like them to, resulting in some headscratchers that persist well after the game has ended....

Finally, the whole Yakuza franchise is on PC! It’s been a rough wait for those who fell in love with the franchise after Yakuza 0, that’s for sure. The Remastered Collection was teased just a few months back, and it finally released on both Steam and the Microsoft Store on January 28th. And, both for longtime fans of the series and for those who have never heard of it, there are some things people should know about this collection before they buy it....

Resident Evil Code: Veronica is one of the last of the Resident Evil games to follow the classic formula. It was definitely the last if you played only on the PlayStation or Dreamcast, because following games like the Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0 were exclusive to GameCube for about a decade. Despite it not being a numbered entry, it is still an important part of the franchise and should not be ignored....

Gamescom 2012 is already proving fruitful, with Ubisoft today unveiling a more detailed - and far more dramatic - trailer focused on the naval warfare portion of Assassin’s Creed 3. The newest cinematic video (with glimpses of gameplay inter-spliced) shows Connor taking his tomahawk topside in the naval battle for American independence. Exactly how the Caribbean story line fits into the larger plot is still shrouded in mystery, but there’s no denying the fact that it will be adding something new to the usual Assassin’s Creed gameplay....

At Comic-Con 2013 the developers from WB Games Montreal were on hand to show off Batman: Arkham Origins, the next iteration in the Batman franchise. However, despite being part of the overarching Batman franchise, this is the first game in the series not developed by Rocksteady Studios. In attendance were Creative Director Eric Holmes, DC Comics’ Geoff Johns, Troy Baker (the new voice of The Joker), and Roger Craig Smith (the new voice of Batman)....

Quantic Dream has stirred the gaming community into a frenzy over their latest project, Beyond: Two Souls ever since its unveiling at E3 2012 last month. Much debate sparked over the Heavy Rain developer’s attention to cinematography and intense atmosphere, 22 heart-pounding minutes of which was covered as E3 was wrapping up. Along with all the buzz about the wildly-anticipated title, rumors have recently surfaced of other Hollywood actors joining Ellen Page in the main cast....

Vocally and visually, the performance by Ellen Page was stunning and delivered some truly intense emotions. Prior to E3, gamers knew that her character, Jodie, had some special abilities. The Sony Conference brought in the revelation that Jodie had been thrown into a military-based training program, which eventually results in her being sent to Somolia to kill a local warlord. Though Quantic Dreams has stated that Beyond would have no quicktime events where the game tells players what button to press, almost immediately there was a scene that did exactly that....

Anyone who has been keeping tabs on Dead Rising 3 knows by now that when the zombie horde attacks, nothing goes together quite like a sledgehammer and a cement saw. But while we know it’s effective in combat, the question remains: can it turn (or sever) as many heads in a high-budget cinematic trailer? Luckily, we need wonder no more. The new protagonist of Dead Rising 3 takes center stage in the new cinematic trailer from Gamescom 2013, produced in collaboration with famed cinematic-trailer-producer Blur Studio....

With the launch of next-gen consoles upon us, one might think that there was no better time to tout the potent graphics and game worlds of games specifically developed for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 - Dying Light chief among them. After seeing the open world survival horror adventure (and playing it for ourselves) at E3 2013, Techland’s next zombie title quickly became one of the most promising next-gen titles around....

Final Fantasy is a franchise that hasn’t shied away from putting strong females in the spotlight. The franchise has taken a bit of criticism for some of the less practical outfits that the women find themselves in, but many of the games most popular and iconic characters happen to be women. The series’ positive history with empowering women is part of the reason that the E3 reveal of the all-male cast for Final Fantasy 15 caught so many fans off-guard....

It’s hard for any game command much anticipation or speculation without ever having shown a sample of gameplay or even an official detail, but when it’s got Grand Theft Auto in the title thing get much easier. We’re still presumably months away from the official release of Grand Theft Auto V, but another developer document has surfaced from within Rockstar hinting that players will be revisiting the streets of Los Santos no later than October 2012....

Blending genres doesn’t always work out in a game’s favor. Thankfully, that’s not true of Defiant Development’s Hand of Fate game, a nearly seamless blend of roguelike ideals, deck-building elements, hack-and-slash RPG gameplay, and the randomness and storytelling aspects of tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. Labeling the Hand of Fate game with any one of these genres would be to do it a disservice, as it spices up the low points of each genre with aspects from the others, making it a game that is unique to itself....

There’s usually a lot of scepticism surrounding the release of any spin-off game, and the same can certainly be said about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Some fans of the series may be a little hesitant about getting excited for a game that stars Raiden, but Konami is so confident that this Metal Gear will be solid that they’ve announced that there will be a demo arriving prior to Revengeance’s release....

Two years have passed since Crystal Dynamics redefined the Tomb Raider franchise with a fantastic reboot. The 2013 Game of the Year contender has since made its way to the new console generation to keep gamers entertained until the sequel arrives. The current-gen port didn’t bring much new to the table, but it still offered the same engaging and cinematic experience that players loved the first time around and broke plenty of sales records....

It’s no small secret that Electronic Arts and BioWare are trying their best to keep from revealing a firm release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic to prevent having to break that promise. While, just recently, gamers received the closest thing to a release date window yet, it turns out Electronic Arts might have to push the game back, again. According to a post over on The Old Republic forums, Electronic Arts is still sticking with their late 2011 release date goal, but are open to the possibility of moving into their early March quarter....

As far as licensed games go, few franchises have the back-to-back quality like Star Wars does. With a universe as expansive and fascinating as this one, it seems there’s an endless amount of ways gamers can role-play in a galaxy far, far away. Unfortunately, the publisher of many of these classic titles, LucasArts, has met a dramatically reduced role circa the Disney acquisition. However, with the recent restructuring of all future Star Wars games under the revitalized banner of LucasFilm Games, there are a number of titles that may be ripe for remakes if the demand is there....

10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg discusses his eagerness to make a video game of his own, although what kind of game this would be is still up in the air. Dan Trachtenberg is a name which shot up like a rising star in 2016. He was the director behind the highly-rated psychological thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, and then delivered more quality content with the Playtest episode of Black Mirror. In a recent interview with Glixel, it turns out the silver screen isn’t the only thing Trachtenberg has his eyes on, as he declared a firm interest in producing a video game to call his own....
