You’d think that after creating one of the best games of this console generation, BioShock, Irrational Games would have nowhere to go but down. However, they’ve followed a completely different trajectory, shooting straight for the skies with BioShock Infinite. Within the first few moments of BioShock Infinite, players will recognize a familiar intro — the player arrives at a mysterious lighthouse that is more than just a lighthouse — and by the 10-minute mark they’re thrown head first into a fully realized world....

Despite the amount of content it offers, there are still a few criticisms that can be levied at Call of Duty Elite - such as Xbox 360 owners continuing to get content drops first. Enter Noob Tube, a brand new show coming exclusively to Elite users, that may just inspire its own set of complaints. The co-op Viking survival game Valheim has become the big thing on Twitch, and for good reason: it’s a well-put together game in a popular genre. Some gamers consider Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to be one of the best multiplayer first person shooters currently available, which is pretty impressive considering the competition. However, despite its values, CS:GO does have its failings. One of those failings is the game’s hitbox detection. In most first person shooters, when a player aims at the enemy’s head and fires, bullets go where they’re aimed and the game registers it as a hit to the head....

CCP Games’ ambitious shooter DUST 514 is set to release later this year, though gamers have a chance to play it this week. Those who purchase the Mercenary Pack will get guaranteed access to all beta waves in addition to a myriad of additional content. The Mercenary Pack launches tonight on the PSN for $20 (tomorrow in Europe for â‚¬17.99 /£13.99) and brings with it plenty of extra content for DUST 514 players....

Peaceful seaside strolls will never be the same again, as Rockstar’s first major addition to the Grand Theft Auto 5 formula goes live online today. Titled the Beach Bum Pack, this free content update arrives alongside patch 1.06, adding a much-needed splash of sea and sun to the game’s online competitions, and a welcome wave of surfer-like items across the board. First announced late last month, the Beach Bum DLC pack requires a reported 64MB download, followed by a further 33MBs of data housing the Beach Bum content itself....

Resident Evil used George A. Romero’s groundbreaking, cult-classic zombie films as a major reference point when the game was designed prior to its 1996 premiere on PlayStation. The first segment of Resident Evil has gamers navigate a zombie-filled mansion, unable to escape, fighting amongst their supposed teammates while besieged by the hungry undead … the exact same premise as 1968’s Night of the Living Dead. While the first Resident Evil game eventually leads to different environments after the mansion, it still plays close to the rhythm established by Night of the Living Dead....

Nintendo managed to surprise even itself with the success of its miniature replicas of iconic NES and Super NES. For some, these serve as nostalgic trinkets, largely considered glorified emulators which house dozens of the best games the consoles have to offer. These supposed novelties – called the “Classic Editions” – reminded older Nintendo fans just how fun many of these games were and still are. Though they also drew younger gamers; many of whom could now experience them for the first time in all their glory....

After seemingly crushing PC gamers’ hopes of ever seeing Alan Wake make its way to their platform, Remedy Entertainment has come out to say they have changed their minds. That’s right, Alan Wake is now going to be releasing for the PC some time in the first quarter of 2012. Remedy began their news with a brief Skyrim joke, and then bolstered their announcement with a long diatribe about the developer’s close ties to the PC gamer, stretching back to Max Payne 1 and Death Rally – but ultimately it was about Alan Wake....
