Primed to impress after its Best-in-Show appearance at E3 2012, Assassin’s Creed III has made the jump to this week’s San Diego Comic-Con vaunting a brand new gameplay walkthrough video narrated by creative director Alex Hutchinson, and unfurling another set of screenshots - this time, for its newly announced 4-player co-op mode. The powder keg of the American Revolution, Boston is one of the two playable “huge-city” locations in Assassin’s Creed III (the other being New York), in addition to the accessible rural settlement and wilderness environments comprising the game’s Frontier....

On October 30th, gamers will finally get the chance to step into the virtual shoes of Connor Kenway in Assassin’s Creed 3. There’s no doubt about it - Assassin’s Creed 3 is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year, and Ubisoft is giving fans of the series a number of buying options. In addition to the standard edition of the game, an Assassin’s Creed 3 Limited Edition will also be available, as well as a number of retailer specific pre-order bonuses....

Not only is the trailer filled with many of the glowing words various news outlets have said about the game — including its selection as the GamesCom 2011 game of the show — but it also includes the new slogan for the game....

Now that the dust has settled on 2014 it’s time to see how things eventually shook out in the gaming world. We know now that the Xbox One saw a huge uptick thanks to its price drop but even so the PS4 was the clear winner when it comes to current-gen sales. On the software side, we know that a few games broke records for new IPs and some old franchises sold well, but we didn’t know (at the time) where specific titles ranked against each other....

Every year about this time gamers begin to shift their focus from the older Call of Duty franchise entry, in this case Ghosts, to the new one, in this case Advanced Warfare. Despite that, though, the Call of Duty: Ghosts machine is still trucking along, and just recently released its third DLC pack, titled Invasion, for Xbox platforms. As we have done with the past two DLC map pack releases, and those for Black Ops 2, we have put together a walkthrough video featuring a closer look at all four new multiplayer maps....

Infinity Ward has confirmed cooperative play will return for Call of Duty: Ghosts, but they won’t say in what form it will return just yet. Most have been speculating that Ghosts will feature some riff on the Spec Ops mode, but as of right now we don’t know. Another easy candidate for a Call of Duty: Ghosts cooperative element would be a full co-op campaign. Ghosts focusing on only two protagonists — brothers, in fact — this time around so it’s conceivable that the game would let a duo play as each main character....

Earlier today, Sledgehammer Games offered gamers a look at the second in-game screenshot for this year’s iteration of Call of Duty. The image featured a soldier in what looks to be futuristic garb (EXO suit?), rendered in Call of Duty’s new graphics engine. Alongside that initial reveal, however, Sledgehammer Games also promised that new Call of Duty details would hit on Sunday May 4th. As it turns out, however it looks like one of Sledgehammer’s bigger news items may have already been spoiled....

Instead, developer From Software crafted just one hellaciously difficult, yet consistently addictive adventure. Now, the little joypad-smashing title that could is back, with a hotly anticipated sequel, and a brand new man in the director’s chair - but will this tactical slash-em-up still be able to cater to fans while also attracting a less hard-nosed audience?...

These days, it’s almost impossible to keep a project in the gaming industry completely under wraps. Whether it’s a developer harmlessly updating their resume or a retailer mistakenly posting a listing for a yet-announced title, it’s not unusual for the public to know about a game’s existence before any official announcement surfaces. The former seems to be the case with Far Cry 4. Thanks to a posting on LinkedIn, it seems as though an employee at Ubisoft Shanghai named Xavier Plagnal has come forward about his involvement in “the next Far Cry game....

Despite premiering a slick trailer during the Spike Video Game Awards in December, news on the Gears of War: Judgment front has been surprisingly hidden on the radar, and we’re curious if it’s a sign of things to come. LEGO The Hobbit might just be a real thing that may very well be set for a multi-platform release come 2014. You’ll have to excuse our ambiguity as the source of this news is an alleged scan of the instruction manual to an actual LEGO The Hobbit set. The image surfaced on the website of LEGO based, stop-motion animation studio Animato Studios and certainly looks legitimate, but without official word from Warner Bros....

The first trailer for Madden NFL 15 has come out of the locker room, and fans of the series should be able to tell this one was directly made for next-generation (or current generation) consoles. Though Madden NFL 15 is the successor to the awkwardly-numbered Madden NFL 25, this year is set to be one of the biggest for the NFL series as a whole. Despite a lack of any in-game footage, a high definition portrayal of Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly urges gamers to prepare themselves for the transition to next-generation consoles....

In less than a week, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will become available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. While the steep 1600 Microsoft Points ($20) price tag may not make the game seem all that appealing, the latest trailer highlighting the game’s various multiplayer options certainly does. According to the latest trailer, Minecraft for Xbox 360 will be home to eight-player simultaneous online play. Furthermore, a group of buddies can get together in front of a single television and enjoy some four-player split-screen action — a great feature that all too many games seem to leave out nowadays....

It’s not uncommon for popular games to be stuffed with secrets, resulting in whispers of hidden unlockable content. While some of these turn out to be legit, a lot of the time these secrets turn out to be nothing more than urban legends. The Mortal Kombat series is no stranger to urban legends. Since the 1990s, gamers have been crazy about skateboarding video games. We’ve loved to grind and flip and grab to our heart’s content; until the wheels fall off and our thumbs have gone numb from trying to input combos into our controllers. But by 2010, we were overwhelmed with the amount of skating games available with Tony Hawk: Ride proving that Activision had exhausted their options (it featured a plastic skate peripheral and received the lowest critical and sales reception of any TH game) and EA’s Skate 3 pushing that franchise to the limit....

It’s hard to think of how a development studio could get started on a better foot than Supergiant Games. The makers of Bastion, 2011’s smash success RPG brawler have once again unveiled their newest creation at E3 2013, dubbed simply: Transistor. No information has surfaced so far beyond the game’s stirring announcement trailer, proving (to those with doubts) that the studio’s commitment to eye-catching visual style and evocative soundscapes is alive and well....

“Jump Ahead.” Indeed, Xbox One’s slogan is not only a representation of all things gaming but motivates a community of gamers to venture into the worlds of imagination and exploration presented by the medium. And there is no better way to do that than with a trusty controller. From every shot firing, chest opening, and transversal platforming, the controller and the mind are the best tools to use. While the original Xbox debuted with a very bulky and unappealing controller in form of “The Duke,” Microsoft has transitioned and gone above and beyond in the controller department....

Video games often take inspiration from one thing or another, and some of them look to real-world myths as their basis for characters. They look to mythologies from all over the world including civilizations such as Greek, Norse, and Mesoamerican to name a few. It is a great way to combine learning with fun as players are taught about them while they play.
