One such game, Subnautica, took the world by storm with its unique underwater exploration. These days, Tom Holland is a household name. In 2016, he made his debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. People continue to circulate rumors of a possible HD remake of the original Mass Effect in hushed tones, but we’ve yet to see anything concrete to indicate that it’s going to happen. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but given the lukewarm reception to Mass Effect: Andromeda, it could be some time before BioWare finds the courage to dip their toes back into the franchise. It’s the question every Batman fan asks when as new game or movie is announced: will Kevin Conroy be providing the dark knight’s voice? Sadly, with Batman: Arkham Origins, we now have the answer; and it’s one that fans won’t want to hear. In keeping with the prequel nature of Origins, the developers at Warner Bros. Montreal have apparently decided not to go with Conroy’s husky vocals, in favor of a younger, less experienced and battle-hardened Bruce Wayne....

When Bungie first revealed that they had killed the infamous Destiny loot cave, the move was met with harsh resentment from fans. For many, the loot cave was one of the only genuine places to grind out gear without having to rely on the game’s fickle random item drops. Final Fantasy 14’s composer Masayoshi Soken is a bit of a jokester, but we all knew that. During the game’s Digital Fan Festival, he interrupted the event’s piano performance by Keiko to sing Civilizations, the Rak’tika Greatwood theme, better known as La-HEE by fans - and it was somehow the most incredible, worst, and best thing he has ever done. EA Sports has once again turned to one of their sports franchises in an attempt to predict the outcome of a full season, this time with the MLS regular reason and FIFA 12. Last year, FIFA 11 predicted that the LA Galaxy would have a monster year…and this year appears to be no different. As would be expected of a team that showed particular dominance during last year’s regular season, FIFA 12 has predicted that the LA Galaxy — home to Beckham and FIFA 12 cover athlete Landon Donovan — will win their conference outright, and finish with the best record in the MLS....

More information has been released that suggests Square Enix’s next Final Fantasy adeventure will be a follow-up to Final Fantasy 13-2, not the Final Fantasy 15 we had all been hoping for. A decidedly frustrating cliffhanger and a domain registration from the developer had made it seem like Final Fantasy 13-3 could be a possibility, but the notion that Square would want to continue to drown fans will similar content was a perplexing one....

If you’re a console gamer, odds are you’ve heard of a little series entitled Gears of War. Meshing together epic single player campaigns and engaging multiplayer components, there should be no surprises as to why the series has been so successful. Now, almost five years after the release of the first game, Marcus Fenix is ready to return to the battlefield in Gears of War 3. And even though the game has yet to be released, a 45 minute walkthrough of the campaign has made its way online....

There comes a time when when a game ceases to be seen as a fad or cultural phenomenon, and is only referred to as a quality title with a devoted fan base. While PC gamers have long known what features made Minecraft one of the best sandbox titles in recent memory, it looks like Xbox 360 owners have come around as well. After less than a week on sale, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold over 1,000,000 copies through XBLA, and isn’t showing signs of slowing down any time soon....

If the past few years in the gaming industry have shown us anything, it’s that some franchise’s just don’t have what it takes to last. While some publishers manage to hit an idea square on the head, and can turn that game into a decade of profits, just as many struggle to capture the original excitement, and ultimately stall out. After the recent release of Red Faction: Armageddon led to sales numbers far below publisher expectations, THQ confirmed in a recent investor call that they no longer had any plans for the future of the series....

Even though the SimCity servers are working much better than they were a week ago, the damage is still done. Gamers still feel burned by developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts who failed to effectively launch their highly anticipated game. Specifically, the games always-on connection requirements crippled servers, and resulted in everything from long wait times to cities disappearing. However, amidst complaints about the ineffectiveness of always-on requirements, and SimCity’s launch failure, Maxis remained steadfast in their claims an Internet connection was the only way SimCity could work properly....

Fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand know that the last great video game to come from the franchise was the popular SNES port of Turtles in Time back in 1992. The cooperative beat ’em up was immediately followed by the negatively received Tournament Fighters in 1993, which put a plug in the series till the 2004 movie tie-in for the film TMNT. However, the mixed reviews of that no doubt prompted an enhanced remake of Turtles in Time by Ubisoft under the name Turtles in Time Re-Shelled for last-gen consoles in 2009....

Four months after gamers heard “Your Titan is Ready” for the first time, Titanfall remains a solid entry in the Xbox One’s launch year line-up. In the week’s before and after release, the title helped increase interest in Microsoft’s next-generation console; though, the game ultimately fell short of lofty sales expectations. Positive launch reviews across the board (read our review) heralded the property as a clear-cut evolution in online first-person shooter multiplayer but, sadly, there just wasn’t enough content included in the final game to prevent a sharp drop-off at retail....

If there’s one thing the Uncharted games are known for, it’s their snappy dialogue and clever writing. The Writer’s Guild of America recognized this as well, giving Uncharted 3 the Video Game Writing Award. Uncharted 3 had some tough competition, as the other nominees included Batman: Arkham City and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. Rounding off the nominees were… Brink and Mortal Kombat, hardly the most story driven of games. If you’re wondering why Brink and Mortal Kombat are up there, it’s because in order to actually be nominated for a WGA, one must be a member of the organization....
