Star Wars The Old Republic Layoffs Inbound

After major game updates failed to stimulate player activity, with average server populations falling alongside approximately 25% of the paid subscribers, BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic began to show signs of trouble. Most MMOs cannot successfully require paid subscriptions and expect to grow the number of active players and so Electronic Arts and BioWare began exploring free-to-play options, something prior to the game’s launch seemed unacceptable. The Old Republic is one of the most expensive MMOs ever created, partly due to the Star Wars licensing cost and partly due to development costs for things like having voice actors for every bit of dialogue in the game....

Star Wars 1313 Gameplay Trailer Is Our Only Hope

It wasn’t Star Wars: Battlefront 3. It wasn’t a new X-Wing Alliance. It wasn’t even a new Jedi Knight or Rogue Squadron. What we did get from LucasArts at E3 2012 was a brand new IP within the Star Wars universe that unlike the last few games in the brand, aimed to offer an experience that can compete with the best the industry has to offer. That game is Star Wars 1313 and when myself and another Game Ranter sat down inside of a little mock-up space ship for the behind-closed-doors demo we were happily impressed, so much so that we nominated Star Wars 1313 in our E3 awards....

Starcraft Universe Mmo Hits Kickstarter What Will You Pledge

Emulating the staggering success of World of Warcraft is video gaming’s very own holy grail. Many have tried, and many have failed. Toppling Blizzard’s beast has even become something an industry-wide obsession over recent years, as competitors line up around the metaphorical block to throw away millions upon millions of investment dollars. Wisely opting for an ‘If you can’t beat them: join them’-type mantra, fledgling development studio Upheaval Arts, is hard at work on a WOW clone inspired by Blizzard’s equally popular Starcraft series....

The Walking Dead Episode Three Releasing In August

When Telltale Games announces a release schedule for any of their episodic titles they usually stick to it pretty rigidly, but in the case of The Walking Dead they haven’t been as stringent as gamers would like. Most recently the release of The Walking Dead’s second episode, Starved for Help, failed to hit its originally announced release date, and eventually slipped into late June. Hopefully, though, Telltale will be able to put those episodic delays behind them, especially since they have given a soft release window for The Walking Dead’s third episode, which is titled Long Road Ahead....

10 Cyberpunk 2077 Bug Memes That Will Have You Cry Laughing

In 2020, not 2077, Cyberpunk 2077 got released and thank goodness that was the case because it’s one of the few silver linings in a rather bad year. Buying in-game items has been a staple of gaming since the early 90’s. As time has passed however, developers have greatly expanded on the initial idea to the point where the economies found within games are often just as complex as those found across the globe. With any economy there must also be a currency. Although many developers opt to stick with real world currencies like Yen and Dollars, others like to design their own to better match the look and feel of their games....
