The game may be called Need for Speed Most Wanted, but this new trailer is all about hot pursuit. Criterion Games’ “re-imagining of a Need for Speed classic” releases in just over a month, and we’re starting to see how all the pieces fit together. Previous Need for Speed Most Wanted trailers have showcased everything from the open-world of Fairhaven City to the innovative “Find It, Drive It” mechanic that makes practically every car in the game available from the get-go....

To date, the developers at EA Sports have shown that when it comes to the NHL series, no improvement or advancement is too small to matter. After years of pushing their game’s mechanics and physics forward in increments, the series’ arrival on next-gen consoles with NHL 15marks one of the largest steps forward in recent memory. Much of the game will feel familiar, but now that the playable demo has been released, fans have a sense of just how much re-learning and conditioning lies in their future....

Video games have evolved hugely in the scant few decades since they were invented, and in that time we’ve seen some truly amazing things from them. Just when gamers were starting to think they’d seen everything, however, indie studio Hello Games showed up at Spike VGX and humbly presented No Man’s Sky, possibly one of the most ambitious and creative upcoming titles that we’ve ever seen. Perhaps the closest we’ve come to experiencing something like No Man’s Sky before now is the Mass Effect series, which allowed players to explore the Milky Way and land on a select number of planets in each solar system....

With Heart of the Swarm visibly on the horizon, it seems that Blizzard is going into full-on tease mode. The evidence? Today, a “secret” web portal appeared, hidden in the StarCraft 2 section of the Blizzard website. Though Project Blackstone requires a password to enter, looking at the source code of the page reveals a series of digits that clever users decoded into “Y7_$0>0k_3<$m”. Upon entering this code, gamers will be taken to an email exchange between two existing characters from the StarCraft 2 comic-and-book universe, Dr....

Last year the gaming community was pleasantly surprised to see the return of everyone’s favorite limbless hero in his first starring role in years - Rayman Origins. After releasing to plenty of fanfare, Ubisoft is bringing the strange animal back once again in Rayman Legends. Rayman Legends has a very similar aesthetic style to the previous title, with plenty of vibrant colors and hyper-expressive characters. Ubisoft is promising a very similar experience to Origins, but with a multitude of new modes, environments, characters, and a new soundtrack to mirror the medieval and musical themes of some of the new levels....

If you haven’t heard of Rayman: Origins by now, then you’ve missed out. Last year’s best platformer did more to reinvigorate a classic character and franchise than any may have hoped, and now the evidence is growing that a sequel is in the works. Developer Ubisoft has yet to make any official announcements, but have gone to the trouble of registering domain names for ‘Rayman Legends.’ Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and when combined with the recent leak of a myth inspired Origins sequel, all signs point to ‘Legends’ being the next entry in the sidescrolling series....

Things haven’t exactly been going smoothly for THQ as of late, but they are looking up. After the success of Saints Row: The Third, the publisher’s fourth quarter results ended up surpassing expectations. Volition’s open-world title has seen strong sales for THQ, and to date has shipped over 4 million copies. THQ’s success was further amplified by Saint’s Row: The Third’s DLC, which caused a bump in digital sales. This isn’t surprising considering the title saw some good reviews, as well a positive response from the gaming community....

It’s hard to create a triple-A title that manages to put a unique spin on an existing genre, an this is largely because many firms have a hard time selling it to the masses. Still, that hasn’t deterred Insomniac Games in the slightest with its forthcoming game, Sunset Overdrive. Gamers first got a look at the in-game action that awaits them in the new title during the first-ever gameplay trailer that hit not all that long ago, which then went on to effectively peak the interests of many players looking for something new....

There’s certainly no shortage of uniquely stylish side-scrollers fighting for attention on the indie scene these days. With a horde of competition all being offered at a relatively low price, developers of smaller titles have to turn to unconventional sources to attract attention. In the case of The War of the Worlds, that source is none other than H.G. Wells’ science fiction masterpiece of the same name. Super Mario fans were given a huge surprise this month when Nintendo announced the release of Super Mario 3-D All-Stars—a compilation of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy—in celebration of Super Mario’s 35th anniversary. Pokémon Sword and Shield’s release has been met with controversy at every turn. From the outrage sparked by the announcement of ‘Dexit’ to the reveal of a two-part expansion pass instead of a third game, Game Freak and Nintendo have flipped the classic Pokémon expectations on their heads. Gears Tactics is an intriguing new game in the Gears of War franchise. Even though the tutorial is efficient, it barely scratches the surface of the things we should know when playing the game. Gears Tactics is the first game in the Gears of War franchise that isn’t a third-person shooter. And for a spin-off, it plays remarkably well. The game is a turn-based strategy where the player controls a group of soldiers who take on the series’ infamous aliens....

It’s been 24 years since Capcom released its first-ever Resident Evil game back in 1996. The original game set in the chaotic Raccoon City where Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, two of the most elite members of S.T.A.R.S., were trapped in a mansion, sent to find latent secrets about their team’s disappearance. Several decades, sequels, and movie adaptations later, we still have some unanswered questions left. With the upcoming release of Resident Evil VIII (Resident Evil Village), it is the best time to look back at some of the game’s unsolved mysteries that, hopefully, we’ll find the answer to in the next installment....

A Valley Without Wind is a 2D side-scrolling adventure game that borrows a bit from Minecraft and Terraria, and improves on some of the features of both titles. We got to try out the game at PAX East and realized that this title is more about exploration than building. It’s like a randomly generated Metroidvania, though this isn’t to say players can’t build things in A Valley Without Wind, they just won’t have to rely on construction so heavily (as in Minecraft)....

There was never any question that Call of Duty: Ghosts would be following a similar route to other installments in offering its owners a DLC Season Pass, but now that the official trailer has been released, potential buyers can see exactly what they’ll be getting for their dollars. In short: new maps, in-game multiplayer items and customization options, and a new four-part episodic campaign in Ghosts’ new ‘Extinction’ game mode. Sadly, the official trailer offers no further information on future dog-themed expansions....

The first Bungie Weekly Update of 2015 has arrive and as promised it brings new details regarding the first Destiny patch of the new year. However, while players had hoped the update would improve and add, it appears this first one will mostly take away. While Bungie doesn’t have an official release date for this latest Destiny patch, they say it could go live as early as Tuesday January 13th. There are a few general gameplay fixes packaged in with the update, but the patch is mostly focused on the Crota’s End raid....
