The original Sony PlayStation (or PSX) had well over 1,250 games, officially anyway. This 32-bit console launched just as the 3D craze in gaming was taking off; unfortunately, the technology of the day wasn’t quite ready to deliver that immersive 3D experience. Because of this, many of the games on the PSX look absolutely horrible by today’s standards. The control schemes of early 3D games – often referred to as “tank controls” – are another reason releases from this era are not as fondly remembered as titles from the 2D 16-bit era....

Noticing the popularity of the Auto Chess mod that was gaining ground with Dota fans, Valve decided to create an official version and capitalize on the market with Dota Underlords. The game has eight players go head to head tournament style on boards similar to chess. Players win by buying and upgrading heroes, using items, and implementing clever strategies. There are some differences from the Auto Chess mod and general strategies that are important to keep in mind when playing this addictive game....

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, Remnant: From The Ashes can still prove quite the challenge. This popular third-person shooter from Gunfire Games captures that Soulslike experience, but with a better emphasis on co-op than your average FromSoftware title. While fans were treated to the first gameplay footage for Call of Duty: Ghosts in a pre-E3 live stream, developer Infinity Ward did not walk into E3 2013 empty handed. They treated us to the same level walkthroughs as that live stream, but also showcased an exclusive behind-closed-doors level, as well as a more in-depth breakdown of the sequel’s graphics engine. It was finally time to see how Call of Duty will look in the next-gen, and what Infinity Ward plans to do with the series going forward....

Atlus has announce that the demo of their highly anticipated title Catherine will release tomorrow (July 12th) on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live. Players who are still a bit wary of whether or not the game (which has featured some bizarre trailers) is something they will enjoy - should check out the demo to get a feel for the actual gameplay. The demo will cover the first hour of the title, with gameplay alone lasting roughly forty-five minutes....

While the Destiny updates have slowed down considerably since the game’s launch back in September, this week was a big one for fans. Not only did Bungie finally fix some of gamers’ most despised bugs – namely the heavy ammo bug – but they also made some tweaks to weapon damage across the board. However, what we did not know was that a second Destiny feature was in the works that arguably is the most exciting change in quite some time....

Telltale’s Game of Thrones has had a stellar opening season so far, with the first two episodes providing a great plot and plenty of tough moral dilemmas. Keeping up with what looks like relatively consistent bi-monthly releases, Telltale took to Twitter to show fans some intense screenshots from the upcoming third episode, entitled ‘The Sword in the Darkness’. Ever since Mass Effect debuted in 2007, featuring a protagonist who was always joined by squad mates on the battlefield, many players wanted to experience that sort of in-depth gameplay with friends. As it turns out, multiplayer is something BioWare wanted to include ever since ME1 and with Mass Effect 3 they’re finally getting their chance. After months of rumors and speculation, it was finally confirmed in October that BioWare would include a multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3, with word that it would be 100% optional, yet tied into the story of the game....

Despite its lack of online multiplayer, ‘Mega Coin Squad’ offers players a unique and colorful 2D platforming game that challenges those who enter the coin-collecting world. There was a time when it seemed Mortal Kombat had enjoyed all its days in the sun, but as the recent entry/reboot proved, that time has ended. And just as one successful fighting game deserves another, NetherRealm Studios is back, bringing the classic series characters and plenty of new ones to next-gen platforms in Mortal Kombat X. After playing it at E3 2014, the series looks poised to keep its momentum moving forward for the foreseeable future....

One of the benefits of games like Mortal Kombat X is the opportunity for developer NetherRealm Studios to draw out the excitement leading to the game’s launch. With the plethora of main characters in the game, NetherRealm Studios has meticulously revealed one or two characters at a time, while also hinting at others joining the fight. This not only gets gamers excited for the Mortal Kombat X characters who are confirmed, but also sparks discussion about potential fighters....

Ratchet and pals get the movie trailer treatment in the newest trailer for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, and Insomniac certainly did the four series favorites justice with a genuinely funny look at the characters. There has not been an influx of news about the latest Ratchet and Clank game, so it is nice to see the furry Lobmax and his robot pal back in action. We were graced with a release date earlier this summer and got a glimpse of the game at E3, and needless to say, this might be one of the must-have co-op PS3 titles this Fall....

After underwhelming sales as well as negative response from critics and fans alike for Resident Evil 6, the Resident Evil series could (once again) be returning to its survival horror roots. In an effort to build on the success of Resident Evil 5, which was a commercial hit even though it prioritized action over scares, Capcom decided that bigger, louder, and more explosions would help them expand Resident Evil 6 into untapped demographics of the gaming community - most notably the twitch shooter audience that rocketed Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Uncharted, among others, to unprecedented sales....

It should be common knowledge by now that Saints Row 4 wasn’t always Saints Row 4. Developer Volition was in the finishing stages of what was to be an expansion for Saints Row 3 — titled Enter the Dominatrix — before folding the whole thing into the early developmental work on SR 4 in order to deliver a 2013 retail release. However, while that might seem like bad thing, Volition believes it was actually the smarter move....
