Sometimes video game franchises have to grow up, and trade in neon lights and fireworks for more realistic simulation and physics. The term “roguelike” gets thrown around a lot these days. Ostensibly, the term describes a certain type of title: a role-playing game with procedurally generated dungeons and permadeath, meaning that when the player’s character dies, that’s it. Start over from the beginning. While roguelikes don’t have to be set in fantasy kingdoms, they often are, and traditionally, roguelike-combat is turn-based, not real time. Recently, that’s all gone out the window. If a game has a whiff of procedurally generated levels and a certain degree of difficulty, it’s a roguelike....

Over the years, Ubisoft has developed a strong partnership with Sony, offering exclusive content to both PS3 and Vita gamers. That trend will apparently continue in the next-gen (aka the current-gen), as Ubisoft has announced exclusive PS3 and PS4 content for their highly anticipated upcoming release Watch Dogs. The PlayStation-exclusive content is offered free of charge and will be available the second Watch Dogs hits retail and digital storefronts. Up until a few weeks ago, we had no idea when that might be, but we now know May 27th is the date for all platforms EXCEPT for the Wii U, which has been delayed....
