There’s no denying that Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular video game franchises ever. Most of the instalments are beloved by both casual and hardcore gamers. Yet, San Andreas still manages to stand out as one of the best in the series. Since its release in 2004, fans have fallen in love with the third-person action title. Few people are casual Kingdom Hearts fans. It either did not click for a particular gamers or it became their number one gaming obsession. It makes sense, too. The mixture of Disney and Final Fantasy makes for one of the most unique RPG franchises of the last 20 years. We would be remiss to say the aesthetic is the only reason for its success. The real-time combat and character progression is also compelling....

The first Indigo League was the first season of Pokemon, and in many fans’ opinions, the best season the anime has ever seen. The first few seasons of Pokemon were much darker and contained more sensitive material, like Pokemon harm. This isn’t touched on in recent seasons, as the series has gone in a much more happy-go-lucky direction. Even the movies are much more toned down than “Mewtwo Strikes Back” and “Pokemon 2000....

The volunteer-based studio, Missing Worlds Media, has stepped up to the plate to carry on the tradition of City of Heroes and its expansion, City of Villains. The non-official sequel is called City of Titans, but the team also refers to it as The Phoenix Project. Missing Worlds Media is aiming to raise $320,000 on Kickstarter over the next 31 days. The funds will be used to, “create a new home for the heroic spirit, but not a clone or replica....

Much like the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, the Devastation DLC offers COD players a bounty of new content including four new maps, a new episode for the Extinction campaign, a new weapon called the Ripper, and a crossover with the ’80s classic Predator. In the old days (aka about two years ago), Call of Duty DLC packs were a set of four maps and that was it, but things have changed a lot since then....

It looks like Electronic Arts, more specifically their EA Sports brand, is once again pioneering a new type of digital content service with the release of EA Sports’ Season Ticket. Season Ticket is a new service that will allow sports fans to experience premium content for all of EA Sports’ marquee titles (Madden, FIFA, NHL, NCAA, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour) for a yearly fee. That yearly fee ($24.99 or 2000 MS Points) entitles the Season Ticket holder to several things, including the chance to play all of these sports titles three days before their release....

Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama has taken to defending how the follow up to Final Fantasy XIII ended with the dreaded 3-word chain, “to be continued.” Of course, while this could simply be an indicator that the possibilities of a Final Fantasy XIII-3 could be true, Toriyama has a rather different opinion, and it doesn’t have to do with another follow up to FFXIII. Toriyama cited the use of the ambiguous ending as more connected to the availability of downloadable content that will be available for Final Fantasy XIII-2 in the future, including a rumored Lightning episode and the soon-to-be-available DLC discussed below....

There will likely still be some who feel that another game set within the Gears of War universe can’t help but feel like treading old ground, but Epic Games isn’t shying away from introducing new characters, or bringing new personality to ones the fans already know. Veterans Baird and Cole will be leading Kilo Squad in Gears of War: Judgment, but players will also become acquainted with a few new characters who bring history and experiences that have yet to be explored in the series thus far....

In the weeks leading up to E3 2012 there were a ton of surprises revealed and teased – including Star Wars 1313 and what would eventually become Splinter Cell: Blacklist – but one game stood out among the rest, especially for comic book fans. Dubbed Injustice: Gods Among Us – a misleading title if there ever was one — this newest game from NetherRealm Studios promised to be a brutal brawler much in the same vein as NetherRealm’s extremely popular Mortal Kombat series, but featuring DC Comics’ superheroes and villains as its fighters....

Development on new Mass Effect 3 content is still underway and while the game is being used to cross-promote next month’s Dead Space 3, new and mysterious DLC should be coming to BioWare’s latest sci-fi epic in the near future. While we await the mid-February unveiling of the next batch of Mass Effect 3 content and huddle over the two teaser screenshots, one featuring an armored Krogran wielding a warhammer, one user may have discovered a few hints of what may be coming, and it could be big....

Those who fire up Medal of Honor: Warfighter (out Oct 23rd for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) will be greeted with quite the substantial patch before being able to play even a second of the game online. While patches, specifically day 1 patches, are not unheard of for games with a heavy multiplayer component, it’s the breadth of the patch that has us a bit worried. Even though Medal of Honor: Warfighter has been shown to press and gamers at various points throughout the year, the verdict was still out on whether Danger Close had found a way to substantially improve upon Medal of Honor (2010)....

A few years ago, Metal Gear fans had no idea what the future for their beloved franchise held, as series creator Hideo Kojima threw talk of abandoning his franchise out into the ether. As it turns out, however, Kojima is not only still very much invested in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, he actually has two titles slated for release in the foreseeable future. The first of those two games is Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which will serve a prologue of sorts to the next numbered MGS title, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain....

Minecraft is one of those wonderful success stories we’ll remember forever, and it may be a game that’s around forever because it thrives on user creation, not game development. In fact, the first alpha version release took Markus “Notch” Persson only one week to develop, although it became an ongoing process with continuous updates ever since. Now, the game has sold over 20 million units across its available platforms (over 9 million on PC) and to this day, still sits as the second most played game on Xbox Live, ranked higher than Halo 4 and FIFA 13....

This Tuesday, February 21 will see the long awaited demo for SSX finally drop onto Xbox 360 through the Live Marketplace, with the PS3 demo coming just a day later via PSN. Our friends in Europe will have to wait one more day to see the demo appear on both platforms. It looks like the demo will only have Zoe as the first playable character, but will let you unlock Mac by referring a friend....

One of the better, and thought to be overlooked, titles that arrived on the PlayStation Vita was Tearaway. Developed by the creative minds behind the LittleBigPlanet series, Media Molecule, the game made full use of the hardware it appeared on and managed to impress the majority of critics with its inept sense of creativity as a result — although our review was a little less enthusiastic about the title. Regardless, Sony took to Gamescom and announced that Tearaway Unfolded would be coming to the PlayStation 4 console, although instead of a brand new adventure it’ll be a revamped version of the original Vita title....
