Alright Kinect fans, settle down there. Anticipation for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is growing, but 343 Industries doesn’t want gamers getting “hyper-excited” about the game’s Kinect features. The developer confirmed Kinect support for Halo Anniversary, but is now trying to downplay the extent of the feature. When the news first broke, many people were worried that 343 Industries had implemented some sort of motion-based control scheme for Anniversary, which would have likely ruined the attempt to remain faithful to the original Halo....

In the run-up to Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation launch, inFamous: Second Son became a PS4 first-party selling point - in addition to a fresh Killzone series installment (Killzone: Shadow Fall) and freshman IP Knack. While Shadow Fall and Knack launched alongside the PS4 hardware back in November 2014, gamers had to wait an extra four months for the release of inFamous: Second Son; still, with no blockbuster Uncharted or God of War games to look forward to in 2014, Sucker Punch’s open-world superhero title quickly became one of the premiere experiences on Sony’s new console....

EA Sports more than got our attention with their newest addition to the NHL series, a series of game modes built around the return of several of the greatest players in the league’s history. Now the last two Legends that will appear in NHL 12 have been revealed, confirming our suspicions that both ‘Super Mario’ and ‘Elbows’ would be showing a new generation of gamers how hockey is meant to be played....

It’s a sad day for Prototype fans, as developer Radical Entertainment won’t be making any more games in the franchise. They won’t be making many new games at all, actually, as publisher Activision has significantly downsized the studio and put them to work on other products. Activision is letting 89 people go from the Vancouver studio. While some of the staff remains, they will no longer be developing their own games and will instead lend support to other Activision titles....

The original Syndicate game was first imagined by Peter Molyneux when he was at Bullfrog Productions back in 1993. Players took the role of CEO for Eurocorp and dispatched four agents to steal technologies from rival syndicate corporations. The original introduced tactical shooting in a cyberpunk setting and was very popular in its time. Starbreeze Studios has taken the helm of developing a brand new game in the series that serves to reboot the franchise and re-imagine it as a first person shooter....

In addition to an exciting new mode, which we now know is a 4-player cooperative mode called Frontier Defense, Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment promised that significant changes were coming to their game. Today they have confirmed those changes, which will be part of update #8. Obviously, the Frontier Defense mode is the main selling point of the free update, but there are some important tweaks and improvements in the pipeline as well....

In the months of January and February it looked like Titanfall, the new Mech vs. Pilot FPS from Respawn Entertainment, was going to be huge. Coming off a very successful and hype-building beta, as well as a strong showing at E3 2013 last year, the multiplayer landscape seemed ripe for the picking. And yet, Titanfall came and, for all intents and purposes, it went. It had its moment in the sun, but now it seems excitement for the game has tapered off considerably....

When Titanfall launched on Xbox One last Spring, it was by far the most successful exclusive for the console at the time. However, while Respawn Entertainment’s Mech vs. Pilot shooter was a fun change for FPS fans, it quickly shifted to the background as newer games hit the market. Despite fading interest, Titanfall fans remain passionate about their game, and demonstrated that passion when Respawn confirmed Titanfall 2. This sequel is set to release on both PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC, and according to Respawn’s Community Manager Abbie Heppe, may include a full-fledged campaign....

With each passing year, the modern video game industry seems to prove the notion that when it comes to established brands and recognizable franchises, predicting the future isn’t all that hard. But Wolfenstein: The New Order challenged that notion to its very core, taking a (once-beloved) tired property known for little more than its shooting and turning in one of the most surprising games of the year so far (read our review)....

For 19 years, Nintendo’s Animal Crossing has provided a fun escape to fictional open worlds where players manage their own homes, finances, and friendships. It’s basically like Sims, except this franchise is admittedly a bit weirder. Humans are the rare species in these towns and cities filled with anthropomorphic animals. You spend your days hoping to pay off your thousands of dollars of debt to a greedy, business-oriented raccoon. You get the power to control time, though, so that’s fun....

Hitman 3 has finally released! And if the reviews are anything to go by, the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy is a good one. The game offers players more interconnected maps and levels. Each map comes complete with its own backstories, lore, and enough replayability in a single mission to rival complete games. It’s a massive title and Hitman 3 will likely keep its fans busy until the developer releases Project 007....

Cooperative gaming has been a thing pretty much since the technology behind running games could support two players simultaneously. With more and more people getting into gaming and families starting to play together, people are looking for more titles offering such a feature. These games are all great, but you should only play them when you are with someone who really knows what they are doing. Some of them offer cushions for less experienced players, but for the most part, newcomers will just end up frustrated if you try to play it with them....

The handheld market of video games has always been a difficult corner of the industry to monopolize, but Nintendo has been the most successful in this area. Sega & Sony’s handhelds never quite took off as they hoped, but Nintendo’s handhelds have all been very popular and it started with the Game Boy. Who doesn’t love a good crossover? Having our favorite characters from one fictional world mingle with those hailing from another is a time-honored tradition that bridges the gaps between various fandoms, often to endlessly entertaining results. The ever-popular Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has seen no shortage of it. There’s an incredible amount of great crossover art combining the timeless charm of Bethesda’s open-world darling with characters and settings from fandoms across the board....

While Age of Calamity might not be an actual prequel to Breath of the Wild, the story is nonetheless one of Koei Tecmo’s best – outdoing virtually every Dynasty Warriors game in the process. Where Hyrule Warriors prioritized fan service above all else, Age of Calamity twists a Legend of Zelda tragedy into an epic shrouded in mythological storytelling. The story fills in the gaps Breath of the Wild left blank, painting a fuller picture of Link’s memories and the world he & Zelda fought so hard to protect....

Biomutant can be a very fast-paced game. While it isn’t a vigorously challenging title, it will still demand a fair amount of skill and attention from its players. This RPG title is filled with a handful of things to do, a couple of challenges to overcome, and a moderate amount of enemies to battle. Those who want to see this game through to the end can do so without much difficulty, for as long as they’re well-equipped and well upgraded....

The wait for the next generation of consoles is finally over as the Xbox Series X|S lands in the hands of those lucky enough to snag one. With any new generation of hardware, users always expect a new user interface or layout of menus, but Xbox did something quite different this time. With the Series X|S, Xbox is making sure that regardless of where gamers are playing, that they still feel included with Xbox’s future....

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II is a massive story which both continues Ellie and Joel’s story while introducing a whole slew of new characters. Even more impressive, the game manages to wrap up numerous plot threads for a satisfying ending. However, many questions regarding the characters and plot are still up in the air after the credits roll. Given the seven-year gap between the two games, it is highly unlikely fans will get a third entry any time this decade....
