Dungeons & Dragons offers a range of options to customize characters. Between the thirteen available classes and races, players have tons of potential to create unique characters that personally speak to them. Through the use of subclasses, D&D even allows for two characters of the same class to provide distinct utility to a party. However, while there are a plethora of excellent subclasses, not all of them are made equal; in fact, there are plenty of subclasses that don’t bring much of value to the table....

In Magic: The Gathering, Red decks are often characterized by their speed and aggressive nature. Red decks often want to cast as many quick and punchy cards as soon as possible and defeat an opponent before they can truly establish themselves. For this reason, one-mana spells are often integral to red-centric decks, as they can be cast in a game’s earliest turns and in larger quantities than spells with higher converted mana costs....

Sometimes, the theories are way off and immediately denied, such as all of the babies are dead in Rugrats. While Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s tie-in to the Alien universe, is still one of 2012’s most highly anticipated titles, gamers who were looking forward to Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gearbox’s first person shooter set after the events of James Cameron’s Aliens, will have to bump the SEGA-published title onto their 2013 most anticipated list. According to an official press release from the studio, Aliens: Colonial Marines - previously slated for Fall 2012 - is now set for release on February 12, 2013....

Well, this is sure to get the speculation stirring as to future games in the Assassin’s Creed series. Fans of the franchise that puts players into the role of ancient assassins have long been voicing their desire for a chance to enter the realm of Eastern ninjas and samurai, with the publisher refusing to comment. If anything, Ubisoft has implied that a ninja or Japanese lead character in the series wasn’t in their plans, but the announcement trailer for the animated film Assassin’s Creed: Embers reveals that both a Chinese assassin and heavily armed Eastern warriors will be coming face to face with Ezio Auditore....

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty community service, Elite, will be adding Facebook integration to ensure that users of both products will be able to connect on a much wider scale. Not only that, Infinity Ward has also confirmed the mobile applications for Call of Duty Elite will also enable players to change their Create-A-Class on the go. Because let’s face it, there have been moments when we’re at a bar talking to some dude and he’s convinced you that some random perk combination is bananas....

As Bungie continually works on future content for Destiny, there’s no shortage of leaks detailing some of what’s to come. We’ve seen some of the new weapons and armor that will be featured in the popular game’s next expansion, House of Wolves, and now we have some new information regarding updates to the game’s PvP. Thanks to some sleuthing by Reddit user megamanexe4, it looks like fans will be seeing a new modifier mode to tackle in the Crucible very soon, with more to come when the House of Wolves DLC drops....

Although we’re still hoping that Destiny will be a pleasant surprise, nothing in this featurette indicates that Bungie is “rewriting the FPS rulebook.” The variations on the double jump and the gunplay have been brought over from the Halo franchise, with several critics who previewed the game commenting on how much it felt like playing Halo. The Titan, Warlock and Hunter are essentially the same warrior, mage and rogue that have appeared in every RPG since RPGs began....

If there is one thing that video game fans are required to get used to, it’s playing the waiting game. Nowhere is this true than in the case of Diablo 3, which has been in production for the better part of a decade. While the developers at Blizzard have resisted pinning down a specific release date it seems at least one retailer has plans for a midnight launch on February 1, 2012....

Despite the efforts of many to convey something meaningful, video games often miss the mark as a medium when it comes to the development of relationships. Whether these come in the form of romantic or platonic ties, it can be difficult to cultivate an honest sense of care for the bundles of polygons that populate your TV or monitor. Dragon Age: Inquisition is aiming to flip that perception on its head....

It would appear that Bethesda has been very busy lately indeed. Between Dawnguard (the first DLC package to be released for Skyrim) and the recently announced The Elder Scrolls Online, the studio seems to have a lot on their plate. Bethesda has now released a teaser trailer for this new title (see above) - and loads of information regarding gameplay and storyline have also been leaked. Although the trailer itself doesn’t give players much to go on, plenty of information has been leaked about Bethesda’s foray into MMO gaming, so let’s start with the storyline....

Throughout its storied history, the Final Fantasy franchise has been known to not only push boundaries in terms of gameplay, but also visual fidelity. Thankfully, with the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 15, Square Enix’s most recent installment in the series will be no exception. Recently, Square Enix released a video for Final Fantasy 15 that shows off Luminous Studio 1.5, their highly acclaimed software engine. The tech demo above is narrated by Square Enix staff members, and they discuss a lot of the new frontiers the team has been able to explore and conquer due to the awesome power of Luminous....

It’s a safe bet that for almost any game developer, the chance to work on a franchise as beloved and revolutionary as Halo would be too good to pass up. But for 343 Industries, the developer who has taken the reins of the series from Bungie, the amount of pressure that kind of responsibility brings is all to familiar. At PAX Prime 2011 this week, the studio released a short video to open their Halo Fest festivities, explaining how they’re dealing with the chance to take the Halo series to places they have yet to explore....

As the online multiplayer spawn has grown exponentially over the last two decades few developers have left room for the couch co-op experience. And where local multiplayer has fallen by the wayside, the party game has been pushed even further to the periphery – to the point there are barely any options available. Even so there still exist a few party game options, many of which are developed by Jackbox Games (formerly Jellyvision)....

BioWare’s announcement last week of the upcoming Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC was a major step for the developer in quelling the vociferous attacks levied on them by many an outspoken fan, allegedly for misrepresenting Mass Effect 3’s promise of a unique custom experience. Only time will tell if the DLC – which aims to build off of each player’s pan-iteration save data and add more context (but no gameplay) behind the final endings – will have the desired soothing effect, but the drama won’t be disappearing any time soon....

Fans of Mirror’s Edge have been waiting quite a while now for Mirror’s Edge 2. Over the course of four years, development has been halted, restarted, and some art and screenshots were teased at E3 2014, but the game still didn’t have a solid release date. While EA and DICE still haven’t officially announced a specific release date, gamers can now at least look forward to a general release window for Mirror’s Edge 2....

Capcom’s latest Resident Evil series installment, Resident Evil: Revelations has a brand new trailer that does a bit more to detail what the game’s story is about, and that it’s not just focusing on Jill Valentine skulking around on an abandoned boat to investigate mysterious biological hazards. The trailer however, is pretty puzzling as to explaining what the actual story is and it introduces new characters with no exposition. Actual trailers for Resident Evil: Revelations have stuck with showing off Jill Valentine as the main protagonist, but newer trailers, like the TGS 2011 trailer, have introduced some new characters here and there....

Let’s face it, we all know that surgeons make their job out to be way more complicated than it actually is. They make a show of putting on gloves and having people around to mop their brows, but at the end of the day it’s just a case of cutting someone open, taking out the bits that don’t work and replacing them with spare parts that do work, then letting a nurse stitch the whole thing back up again while the surgeon goes off for a coffee break....

Months ago, we got wind that a Batman: Arkham Asylum-style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was in production - leading to speculation that fan-favorite developer Rocksteady Studios was making the jump from Gotham City to the sewers of New York City. However, the studio quickly debunked the rumors and soon after, we learned that Activision had actually tapped Red Fly Studios to create a four-player downloadable game centered around the iconic reptilian heroes - titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows....

Fighting crime is a staple of many video games. Players could be superheroes using powers to stop the destruction, or they could just be random individuals who find themselves in a peculiar situation needing to stop bad guys. Regardless, there’s no role more fun to take on than detective. Detective games are narrative-driven, giving players the ability to immerse themselves in the mystery. Finding clues, hunting suspects, and solving crimes can be satisfying....
