For a series that has been going for over 20 years, it’s natural to assume that some of the Pokémon introduced in earlier titles in the series wouldn’t be as viable as they once were. Both power creep and the addition of new creatures will make sure that some favorites that were once a powerhouse pick on any team will fall by the wayside. To mitigate this, Game Freak made sure that Pokémon were being given new tools to keep them relevant, or, at the very least, ensure they are able to keep up with the introduction of Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and the Dynamax mechanic....
Valheim is a Viking-themed survival game that has taken the internet by storm. Whether players are sailing through the open ocean or mining ore in the forest, Valheim provides a stunningly beautiful adventure. It’s very impressive for an early-access title. While Paradox Interactive has gained ire in the past thanks to its DLC practices, sometimes the company makes good decisions. One of these was to introduce a subscription service for Europa Universalis 4 that allows users to access every DLC at a much lower cost than buying everything individually. However, Paradox has also made some less than stellar choices. Many fans were displeased with the release of the Leviathan expansion. It was… not well received....

Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines has been in development for quite some time, but now we have at least some confirmation that development is almost complete: SEGA has revealed the game’s box art. When players pick up Aliens: Colonial Marines this Fall, they’ll be treated to a lovely image of a Xenomorph head upon a white background, with the Marines superimposed onto the creature’s skull. The box art image for the Wii U version has not been released, likely due to the fact that most Wii U details are still on lock down....
Ever since Rocksteady Studios came out of nowhere with their critical and financial success Batman: Arkham Asylum, fans of Batman and third-person action games have been eager to see what would come next. Now that question has been answered, as Batman: Arkham City has taken the basic setting and fundamentals of the original game and thrown them into an even larger open world environment. With the development team is making it clear that they were taking on a much larger story, with far more villains to keep track of, some had begun to wonder if Rocksteady was biting off more than they could chew....
Beyond: Two Souls is the latest gaming “experiment” from David Cage’s Quantic Dream studio that, not unlike his previous endeavor Heavy Rain, hits with the promise of revolutionizing video game storytelling. However, while Heavy Rain was a fairy straightforward story, Beyond is anything but. Granted, without Heavy Rain’s lead, Beyond wouldn’t even be possible, but this is the more accomplished game of the two. While most will use the term ‘game’ when describing Beyond, it’s more of an interactive story....
Activision and Sledgehammer Games are certainly standing behind Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the latest entry in the yearly series, claiming that not only will the game outsell its predecessor, but it’ll also go on to become the biggest game of the year. You could probably wave off that second claim, but the Call of Duty series has proven time and again that it’s incredibly popular for a reason. Even reviews are saying that AW is a solid game (read our review here), despite the fact that it doesn’t completely change the series’ formula....

The game may be set in a believable setting, but oftentimes the scenarios that the title presents are far from realistic. At the same time, though, there are undertones to every Call of Duty title that echo our current political or geopolitical climate. With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, developers Sledgehammer Games hoped to take those players’ preconceived notions about story and dig a little deeper....
As many 3DS owners are already well aware, the Nintendo 3DS didn’t have a stellar lineup of games right out of the gate. That’s slowly been changing though, and with the recent releases of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, the 3DS seems to finally be heading in the right direction. Regrettably, it seems that Cave Story 3D, one of the more anticipated titles for the handheld, won’t be making its original August 9th release date....
