The Mortal Kombat trailer has been an internet sensation since it came out, garnering over 116 million online views on its way to become the most-watched R-rated trailer of all time, beating out Logan and Deadpool 2 thanks in no small part to Sub-Zero. However, Joe Taslim indicated there still more fans have yet to see. Ever since Mortal Kombat started turning heads at the arcades in 1992, Sub-Zero and Scorpion have been the franchise’s most iconic characters, as almost anyone thinks of the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu ninjas upon hearing the name of the game....

Trouble first began for Prey 2 earlier this year, when cancellation rumors started to appear online. Bethesda denied these claims, saying that development was not going as well as hoped, and that the title was merely being delayed to 2013. At the same time, reports came in that Bethesda had pulled developer Human Head off the title after some contractual disagreements. It was not known whether or not Human Head would continue development of the title, or if Bethesda would seek out another studio to continue where Human Head left off....

Project Cars is likely to go down as one of the big successes of the recent crowdfunding trend. Foregoing the traditional publisher model, but finding distribution through Namco Bandai, the Slightly Mad Studios racing sim received backing from the gaming community, and has gone on to be a critical success. New Horizons was the most successful Animal Crossing to date. The ability to terraform and place furniture outside is literally game-changing. Before, there was no way to make an island your own besides custom paths, flowers, and public works projects. As much as we all like to joke about Skyrim‘s various re-releases, the fact of the matter is that there are only a few video games ever made that could be released that many times and still tempt you to play them again. Well, a big part of the reason why it’s so easy to return to Skyrim time and time again is the game’s quests are so good. In a previous look at the best quests in Elder Scrolls history, I mentioned that Skyrim‘s quests aren’t quite as good as those in Oblivion....

After months of calculated villains and gameplay reveals from Warner Bros. Yet again, 2K Games was out in full force at E3 with one of the most ambitious booths of the entire show. Sporting a 25-foot tall Evolve monster and a huge, tournament space, the company’s presence was well felt at E3 2014. Just a few years ago, it would have been almost impossible to explain to others that people would be purchasing games almost exclusively for the multiplayer experience. While games like Call Of Duty: Black Ops contain both a single player and multiplayer experience, it is the competitive multiplayer that acts as the game’s main draw. Now, just over half a year after its launch, Black Ops has overtaken its predecessor as the UK’s highest selling video game of all time....

At this point, Destiny’s quirky and controversial design decisions are well documented. For everything the game gets right - the buttery-smooth combat, and the addictive (if punishing) loot system - there is a long list of features that don’t quite deliver on Bungie’s initial promises. Critical gamers like to joke that Destiny is an Early Access game, and while that’s not quite fair to Bungie’s development team, those players do have a point: Destiny is very much a work-in-progress, and it’s changing dramatically as time goes on....

It’s been a troublesome week for Deus Ex: Human Revolution: there’s been issues with distribution at retailer GameStop to the point that the PC version was taken off the shelves, even amidst raving reviews. While not all games are without their flaws, it seems that some PC gamers have found a few bugs in the title. Not to worry though, as an update has been quickly dispatched to solve the problem....
