After reports came out last week that Forza Motorsport 5 would require gamers to download an online update prior to playing the game for the first time, Turn 10 Studios’ own Dan Greenawalt clarified the issue and stated that this was not, in fact, the case. Whilst gamers will need online connectivity to unlock deeper sections of the career mode, the base game itself will not require an online connection at anytime — meaning Forza 5 players without internet have nothing to fear....

Guild Wars 2, like its predecessor, might not have a subscription fee, but microtransactions will play a much larger role in Tyria this time around. Not only will the new purchasable currency play a vital role in the game’s economy, it might just eliminate gold farmers and sellers entirely. After Persona 5 Royal won the Partner Award at the PlayStation Awards 2020 Japan Asia, P Studio, owned by Atlus, shared a video message thanking the annual award show for the honor. “As next year is the 25th anniversary of the Persona series, we have many exciting plans which we hope you will all enjoy,” said Persona Team producer and director Kazuhisa Wada. Persona 5 has received a PlayStation Award every year for the past five years....

The catalog of LucasArts and Star Wars games on Good Old Games (GOG.com) is expanding, with the digital game service adding several new Star Wars games today, some of which are making their digital distribution debut. In what GOG is calling ‘Wave II,’ they are continuing a plan that kicked off late last year with the announcement of a partnership with Disney Interactive. At the time, more that 20 games from the developer made their way to the service, including a few Star Wars games like X-Wing Special Edition and TIE Fighter Special Edition....

When it comes to video games, the horror genre has had its ups and downs. There was a period of time where horror games were virtually non-existent, but thanks to popular games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, they became an important part of the industry. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is a brand new open-world epic from the developers of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. It’s set in a Greek Mythological world and borrows many elements that fans have become accustomed to with the usual Ubisoft formula but along with some heavy influences from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in terms of the gameplay mechanics and the similar (but not identical) art design. It’s also a far more humorous adventure than the Assassin’s Creed series and makes light of the dark legends, stories, and tragedies that are usually found in Greek mythology....

The Super Mario franchise has always been extremely popular for Nintendo. Over the decades, the games have retained their core formula while also pushing the platformer genre forward in ways that are truly innovative. Investing a lot of money in a movie with a star-studded cast and a larger-than-life storyline can pay off greatly when the movie hits the zeitgeist and audiences show up in droves to see it. Marvel manages to do this three times a year (when theaters are open) and the studio has yet to produce a box office flop. But not every studio is as lucky as Marvel. Sometimes, the stars align and a director and their cast and crew get together to make a movie that’s truly great and will stand the test of time, but either due to poor marketing or simply low interest from the public, the movie crashes and burns financially....

Bravely Default 2 recently released for the Nintendo Switch, delighting RPG fans everywhere. Animal Crossing: New Horizons features a wide number of villagers that can move to the player’s island and live alongside them. These characters are a combination of hundreds of older villagers from previous games with a few brand new ones like Raymond, Audie, and Judy. Although there are a massive number of villagers that players can have live on their island, every villager that has ever been introduced through the Animal Crossing franchise is actually not present in this game....
