About a year ago it sounded as if Microsoft was ready to expand their Xbox division in some bold and exciting ways with the introduction of a Halo TV series produced by Steven Spielberg. One year later, though, and that intriguing expansion has transformed from a potentially game-changing idea to yet another failed experiment by a major player in the video game market. But while the Xbox Entertainment Division, which was meant to be Microsoft’s TV wing, is no more, the Halo TV series does live on....

Coming hot off the heals of their recent announcement of Homefront: The Revolution, Crytek is continuing their trend of preempting the E3 rush. This time, rather than an open-world FPS the game on tap is HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, a new IP in the guise of a dark and twisted third-person co-op shooter. Intended to be the next step in Crytek’s move towards their “Games-as-a-Service” model, HUNT puts players in the role of hunters tasked with tracking down and eliminating the things that go bump in the night....

Electronic Arts and developer Danger Close have been hard at work on the next installment in the Medal of Honor series. Medal of Honor: Warfighter has received a nice visual upgrade from its predecessors, courtesy of its shiny new Frostbite 2 Engine as is evident in the new trailer released today. The gameplay appears similar to that of 2010’s Medal of Honor, but with the visuals of Battlefield 3 to match....

The countdown clock for Sony’s Future of PlayStation event on Wednesday at 6 PM ET has crossed the 24-hour threshold, and the list of potential PlayStation 4 revelations that could work their way into the fold continues to grow. The record-breaking blockbuster title Minecraft is set to team up with another record-shattering intellectual property in 2015, and it’s one pairing we wouldn’t have guessed. Today, confirmation came that Minecraft would be getting a skin pack filled to the brim with The Simpsons characters, bringing the yellow-colored cartoon family to Xbox 360 and Xbox One this February. Homer Simpson and his ageless family, who have graced primetime spots on television for over 26 years, have been longtime favorites across several generations of fans, and the Xbox-only Minecraft skin pack is sure to be popular amongst fans of the show....

Over this past weekend groups of gamers were treated to a special alpha test of Respawn Entertainment’s forthcoming shooter Titanfall. Each alpha participant was sworn to secrecy (a.k.a. they signed a non-disclosure agreement) and in return they were treated to a first-hand look at one of this year’s most highly anticipated games. However, although these gamers entered into a contract with EA and Respawn, a contract that said they would not share any footage of the Titanfall alpha in action, some have decided not to abide by that deal....

Since acquiring the Transformers license, Activision has done great things with the IP, as well as some not-so-great things. Their third-person shooter Cybertron series earned critical acclaim and was basically a love letter to the franchise, but they’ve also put out a number of rushed efforts, including the poorly received Rise of the Dark Spark, as well as numerous widely panned movie adaptations. Furthermore, Transformers Universe, a MOBA style online multiplayer experience, flopped and was shut down on January 31st of this year....

The fifth-annual Xbox Live Summer of Arcade continues to flex its muscles after Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD took off earlier last week - and hot on its heels is Iron Galaxy Studios’ Wreckateer. At first glance, Wreckateer may certainly come off as being Angry Birds in 3D. If it weren’t for the intuitive control scheme and the ability to push the Kinect hardware in the right direction – that is to say, away from Kinect: Star Wars – the word “clone” would be an apt description of the game....

When the PlayStation 2 was released in 2000, the improved hardware meant that Sony began promoting realism-centric action games, instead of the platforming games that had dominated console gaming in the 90s. Survival horror is at the heart of Resident Evil, but Village taps into a level of action that was previously only found in Resident Evil 4 through 6. Resident Evil Village maintains Resident Evil 7’s atmospheric tone and tight level design, but with an emphasis on gunplay and an abundance of enemies thrown at Ethan throughout the game. Arguably Resident Evil Village’s greatest strength is its sheer variety. There’s so much players can do in Resident Evil 8, from optional side content to gameplay tricks that’ll make subsequent playthrough a breeze....

Players of Divinity: Original Sin 2 know just how immersive Larian Studios’ acclaimed RPG can become in a single playthrough. After all, characters can interact with most environmental elements and have different reactions to various in-game situations. Moreover, players can tinker around with a majority of gameplay elements to turn battles to their favor. However, DOS2 seems to have more than meets the eye when it comes to gameplay quirks....

With the recent failure that was WWE 2K20, it’s not hard to see why fans of wrestling games have turned away from the franchise altogether. The games just aren’t what they use to be. Microtransactions and glitches galore, along with multiple modes that just feel stale and get dull rather quickly. However, there have been some pretty stellar entries in the series that deserve your attention if they haven’t already had it....

After all, with the vast amount of places to discover and unique battle systems, these titles do have a ton of replay value. Age of Empires II is one of the most well-loved strategy games of all time. Microsoft’s acclaimed RTS initially released sixteen years ago, and became a bestselling hit. In 2013, the classic title was brought up-to-date, with the remastered Age of Empires II: HD releasing for PC as a Steam exclusive. The re-release was commercially successful, although there was some criticism over the lack of new features in the HD remake at launch....

The series of behind-the-scenes trailers in the lead up to Assassin’s Creed 3 have placed a great deal of emphasis on the historical accuracy that the game’s plot will follow - at least on the surface. the newest trailer takes a stylized look at one of the Revolution’s most pivotal events, and shows that the Templar influence, while subtle, may have shaped the conflict more than any would have assumed....

Let’s face it: Assassin’s Creed 3, for as much as the game was a leap forward for the franchise in terms of its graphics engine, fluidity of movement/combat, and storytelling, was a pretty big disappointment. It was a sore spot on a franchise that was depending on its latest entry (at the time) to rejuvenate things — to prove that the creation of Ezio wasn’t just a flash in the pan....

It’s only been a few days since the PS3 release of Battlefield 3’s Back to Karkand pack, but already a pretty clever little Easter Egg has been found on the pack’s Wake Island map. Meant to be a monument to the thousands, perhaps even millions, of players that have fought on this virtual battlefield DICE has placed a small shrine/memorial for BF3 gamers to find. While the Easter Egg is better experienced for yourself, a Redditor has posted an image from the map that shows the memorial....

Bungie has been slowly rolling out details for its upcoming Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, which is set to drop in just a few short weeks. Much of what Bungie has released has centered around a new Crucible event, called Trials of Osiris, which will provide new ways for Guardians to take on friends and strangers in the PvP arena. In this week’s Destiny update, Bungie has provided a few details about additional changes coming to the Crucible....
