A new, and potentially game-changing, piece of information has just been released for Halo 4 that is sure to prolong the shelf life of 343 Industries first opus well into 2013. This new feature, called specializations, give players incentives to keep plugging away on the multiplayer battlefields long after they’ve ranked up their Spartan IV dozens of times. Specializations are essentially new ways for players to improve their Spartan — make them more stealthy, harder to kill, or allow them to level faster....

While many gamers are chomping at the bit to get their hands on PS4 launch titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Resogun, and Knack, some gamers are looking to next year’s inFAMOUS: Second Son as the first must-have title for Sony’s next-gen platform. However, although we knew inFAMOUS: Second Son was slated to hit some time early next year, we didn’t know when exactly…until now. As part of Sony’s PS4 All Access Event, developer Sucker Punch announced that inFAMOUS: Second Son will hit store shelves on March 21st of next year....

Mojang has been enjoying much success as of late, with Minecraft sales skyrocketing across all platforms. It’s been some time since the last major update, but Mojang has just announced that Minecraft’s long-coming 1.5 Update will arrive this March. The Minecraft 1.5 update, which is more well-known as the Redstone Update, has been in the works ever since it was discussed at MineCon. As the update’s title implies, Mojang has focused on expanding redstone-based items and qualities....

There’s a new Need for Speed coming out this year after all; although by ’new’ we really mean it’ll come in a new box with more content and another price tag. You may recall Need for Speed Rivals, last year’s entry in the racing franchise, which put players in control of both cop and racer, a feature that hadn’t been seen since 2011’s Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. Well, the 2013 game is being re-released next month as Need for Speed Rivals Complete Edition to hold gamers over until the next game....

What Call of Duty has in giant set pieces and explosions, Sniper: Ghost Warrior has in stealth. Developed and published by CI Games, the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise is all about the quiet kill, featuring sniper shots from long-range and pistol and knife kills at close quarters. Compared to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s speedy exo suits, Battlefield’s focus on building destruction and even the Sniper Elite franchise (which has plenty of stealth but its biggest draw is its gory X-Ray kills), Sniper: Ghost Warrior probably seems subdued....

If there’s one adjective that can be more appropriately applied to Naughty Dog games more than any other it’s cinematic.
