With multiple dystopian settings, sci-fi drugs, thought-provoking philosophies, and 1900s Western ideologies, BioShock packs a lot of content. The trilogy gives you so much to explore—both physically and mentally—that it’s easy to miss details as well as entire plotlines. Even if you devote yourself to solving every mystery in BioShock, you probably don’t know every fact on this list. Of course, there’s more to BioShock than its in-game content. Some of the craziest facts stem from the development process....

Mario was first created in 1981 as the playable character of Donkey Kong and he’s been popular ever since. Originally named Jumpman, Mario was renamed a year later in Donkey Kong Jr. and began starring in his own games starting with Mario Bros. in 1983. He has since become the most recognizable video game character in the world. His popularity has resulted in multiple Mario games as well as hundreds of references to Mario in other franchises....

We’re back with another gameplay video and first impressions post, this time for Gearbox Software’s new game, Aliens: Colonial Marines. It’s a first person shooter set within the Aliens universe that takes place after the events of the second movie. Sounds awesome right? Well, as you can see from the video above, Aliens: Colonial Marines is a little rough around the edges…all edges. Even at the start screen, textures and basic text looks extremely dated, and once the first cut scene kicks in that feeling pervades the early stages of the game....

With only a few hours left until the launch of the Dragon’s Teeth DLC pack for Battlefield 4, developer DICE has kicked their promotional tour into full gear. First and foremost, the developer has announced a month-long program called Battlefest that will feature plenty of Battlefield-themed events, including double XP weekends, screenshot contests, and prize giveaways. But more importantly, DICE has unleashed the launch trailer for Battlefield 4: Dragon’s Teeth, which readers can check out above....

As promised, a new set of customization packs for Call of Duty: Ghosts has arrived alongside a new trailer. The packs include several new weapon skins, reticles, multiplayer characters, and, the piece de resistance, the return of Captain Price to the world of Call of Duty. As you can see in the above trailer, these new customization packs boast additions both serious and silly. For every Inferno pack, which adds new fire-themed skins to a player’s arsenal, there is a Space Cats, which…well, you can probably guess what that one does....

First came the news that Project Cars would be unlikely to appear on the console, with developer Slightly Mad Studios citing difficulties bringing the game beyond 23 FPS. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is going to skip Nintendo’s system - even though the title is going to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360....

In just a few months PC and Mac users will finally be able to get their hands on Diablo 3, leaving interested console players wondering when they’ll be able to get in on the action. One Blizzard executive has confirmed that if (because they’re still pretending it’s not a sure thing) Diablo does come to consoles it will be just as awesome as any PC experience. Earlier this year, news that Diablo 3 was coming to consoles was prematurely leaked by the company’s Community Manager, Micha Whiple....

We already knew PS5 and Xbox Series X were two power-hungry consoles, but a report from the Natural Resources Defense Council sheds new light on the problem. In fact, according to the research, Xbox Series X|S owners will likely see an additional $1 billion in their electricity bills – all thanks to one seemingly small decision by Microsoft. To Microsoft’s credit, they do give users the option to turn on an energy-saving mode, one that significantly reduces power use at the expense of an additional 10 seconds tacked on to the startup time....

After BioWare revealed their intention to bring a new design to the female version of Commander Shepard, the protagonist of Mass Effect 3, fans wasted no time in voicing their opinion. It turned out the blonde was the preferred model among loyal fans, but to make sure that the development team gets it right, BioWare has just begun the second round of voting to determine what version will be available in Mass Effect 3....

Originally created by Markus “Notch” Persson and released in 2009 as a developmental alpha version, its road to a full release (as developed and published by Mojang) in 2011 is a prime example of how early access models can work. Official movie video games — at best they’re a mixed bag. For every successful Escape From Butcher Bay there’s 10 times the amount of interminable dross, from SEGA Iron Man titles, to Street Fighter: The Movie and - who could forget (despite their best efforts) - E.T The Extra-Terrestrial. With mainstream TV currently enjoying something of a golden era — think Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective et al— more and more television shows are opting to follow the silver screen’s lead into the video gaming market....

We were starting to grow suspicious. As the Winter marched on, as games like The Last of Us, Star Trek and, recently, Injustice: Gods Among Us were etched into a spot on the gaming calendar, it became doubtful that Ubisoft was merely emulating the stealthy Sam Fisher by concealing Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s anticipated “Spring 2013” release date any longer. Sadly, those inklings have now been confirmed. Rather than face off against Spring headliners like Gears of War: Judgement, BioShock: Infinite, Grand theft Auto V or the three aforementioned, Ubisoft has announced that Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be releasing on August 20, 2013 for its originally intended platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC....

Such is the case for CD Projekt Red, with the mainstream success of The Witcher 2 making the studio - and the series - a household name for RPG fans. Now the hopes and hype have been raised for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, meaning the developers won’t have to just craft a game to satisfy fans, but welcome a brand new audience....

High Moon Studios has today confirmed that the iconic voices of Peter Cullen and Gregg Berger will be lending their talents to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. As expected Cullen will be reprising his role as Optimus Prime, and Berger will be assuming the role of Grimlock, one of the Dinobots featured prominently in the marketing for this game. Cullen is no stranger to High Moon’s new Transformers franchise — you can hear him talk about Optimus’ role in the game above — but this will be the first time that Berger assumes the role of Grimlock for a video game....
