Fear not Autobots and Decepticons, it appears there will be a tie-in game for Transformers: Age of Extinction, the latest blockbuster sequel from director Michael Bay. Although no announcement has been made, Hasbro, the toy company that owns the Transformers property, has applied for a video-game related trademark early last week. No developer or publisher is listed with the trademark, but last we had heard Activision was in charge of Transformers video games....

For many Sony gamers, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series delivered some of the most eye-popping and emotional moments of the PlayStation 3 generation - which is why it’s no surprise that PS4 gamers are already anxious for Uncharted 4. You don’t go 25 years with a name like Resident Evil without introducing a good mix of macabre monsters primed to haunt the nightmares of players everywhere. At their best, these frightening beasties make you want to run away and hide, challenging you to use your limited resources wisely while trying to survive the night. Even at their worst, any Resident Evil monster worth its weight in viscera will still have you gawping at just how disgusting it appears....

Ubisoft has some excellent looking games lined up for the next generation, including brand new hacker vigilante sandbox Watch Dogs, but the company’s current annual staple is the ever-popular Assassin’s Creed series, which places the player in various periods of history and allows them to run around irresponsibly over famous pieces of architecture. There’s also some kind of subplot to do with Templars and conspiracies and the end of the world, but if you’d rather not get into that then you can just swan-dive off the Colosseum in Rome and then stab a passing guard in the back of the head for fun....

The Wii U just can’t catch a break. After it was revealed earlier today that the Wii U is selling well below expectations and well behind its predecessor, the Wii, Warner Bros. also revealed Batman: Arkham Origins’ new multiplayer mode will not be available for Nintendo’s newest console. This is a considerable blow to the Nintendo fan base as Batman: Arkham Origins is one of only a handful of multiplatform titles releasing on the Wii U, albeit now with a feature missing....

Electronic Arts took to the AMC Metreon theater in San Francisco last week to unveil the very first next-gen game by Swedish developer DICE to the gaming press. As expected, the 17 minutes of Battlefield 4 gameplay footage presented offered impressive visuals and animations, fit for bridging the gap to the next generation of gaming hardware. Built off of the improved Frostbite 2 engine - dubbed Frostbite 3 to indicate that it’s really next-gen ready - EA opted to only showcase a segment of Battlefield 4’s single-player campaign and reactions from attendees were mixed....

The jump to a new console generation is always fraught with similar issues - limited availability, high price points, minimal system features, and a lack of first party exclusive titles, among others. For that reason, once an early adopter manages to secure a next-gen device, it’s extremely important that console sellers have lined up a robust list of game experiences for buyers to enjoy. Nothing is worse than purchasing an expensive piece of hardware, only to sit on the sideline waiting for new games to play....

With only a few hours before the second DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, titled Devastation, is upon us, Activision has taken to beefing up their marketing machine considerably. First, there was confirmation that the Predator will be a special feature in the DLC, and now this latest trailer puts the spotlight on the second episode of the Extinction campaign. For those that might not know, Ghosts features a unique take on the survival horde mode of COD’s past wherein a group of up to four co-op companions test their mettle against waves of invading alien creatures....
