Welcome to our regular gameplay impressions and video post where we record our first 10-30 minutes with a new game, and provide some general impressions on that early playthrough. Today’s game is: 99 Levels to Hell from developer Zaxis Games and B-Evil. We’ve covered several different types of rogue-likes over the course of our video series, and ultimately found something to enjoy in each of them. Some offer a familiar spin on the basic rogue-like concept, while others try to take a completely different approach....

While we don’t know all that much about Angry Birds: Star Wars as far as gameplay and moment-to-moment experiences go, that isn’t stopping fans from creating a wish list of iconic Star Wars items and characters they’d like to see in the game. Thus far we know what roles a few of the colored birds and pigs will be assuming, but that’s pretty much it. The first trailer for the mobile title teased the presence of the Death Star, but before the footage concluded it had sprouted pig ears....

For months now, we’ve analyzed Assassin’s Creed III in its American Revolution milieu through the lens of cinematic trailers, breathtakingly beautiful and brutally violent screenshots, and imparted wisdom from the creative minds at the reigns. Gameplay footage, however, has sidestepped the spotlight with all the deft of an Assassin Order master, and it wasn’t until last week that Ubisoft teased teased a full trailer in exchange for 1,776,000 Facebook likes....

After a successful run at the box office and on video game consoles the past few years, Batman remains one of the most popular comic book characters in modern culture. While heroes like Superman and Spider-Man get plenty of adoration from fans both young and old, Batman is especially well-loved - because, unlike alien beings or meta-humans, the Caped Crusader is a normal guy (albeit very rich and well-trained) that puts his life on the line to protect the innocent....

EA’s highly anticipated first person shooter, Battlefield 3, is only one month away from release - meaning it’s time for developer, DICE, to work-out the final kinks. Two days ago, the Battlefield 3 servers were opened for a brief early access beta and only Origin pre-order holders as well as anyone who registered a copy of Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or Tier 1 Edition was given access. However, with a game as big as Battlefield 3, DICE didn’t wait long to open the floodgates to anyone with an internet connection - as the beta is now available to every PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 player....

Xbox 360 owners have been enjoying the ‘Rezurrection’ DLC for Black Ops for a few weeks now and soon PS3 and PC owners will get the chance to don a spacesuit and blast the undead on the dark side of the moon. Activision announced today that this latest DLC pack for Black Ops will launch for PS3 and PC on September 22nd. Also to celebrate the launch Treyarch will be offering a Double XP weekend from Sept....

Despite a general sense of COD franchise fatigue with the latest series entry Call of Duty: Ghosts, developer Infinity Ward has continued to truck on with their DLC plans undeterred. Thus far, they’ve released two surprisingly substantial map/expansion packs and even added a few multiplayer skins in the mix. One of the first and the likely the most intriguing multiplayer skin released for Call of Duty: Ghosts so far gave players the chance to done the likeness of Captain Price, but this latest one might do him one better....

After dying a death at the hands of Half-Life 2’s ambitious add-on schedule, episodic content appears to be making something of a comeback. Whether through staggered release - as with Telltale Games’ The Wolf Among Us, or season-long content drops - in the case of Dead Rising 3 — these piecemeal installments can help to keep a title in the limelight for far longer than is typically possible. With Dead Rising 3 the content is divvied up into four short DLC adventures....

A lot of video games promise the world before launch. No Man’s Sky boasted about its open world of 18 quintillion unique planets. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the product of eight long, hard years of development and the most expensive game ever made. Cyberpunk 2077 offered us an immersive, Blade Runner-esque world even bigger than that of The Witcher 3. The stakes just keep getting raised. “To make the Crashiest Crash game ever has always been our mantra,” Stephen Jarret, vice president of game design at King, explains....

The video game reboot and remake world are some treacherous waters to navigate, dealing out more failures than successes. For every Strider there are plenty of…well…Striders. It is with that sentiment in mind that we bring news of a Gauntlet reboot, which is currently in development at Arrowhead Game Studios and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive. The title is targeting a mid-2014 release on Steam and will do its best to capture gamers’ nostalgia while also introducing modern gameplay ideas....

While there are many criticisms that can be raised against developer Rockstar Games regarding their gameplay and writing, few could argue the developer doesn’t pack their games full of content. From the sprawling open world of Red Dead Redemption to the tremendous post-release expansions for GTA 4, Rockstar knows how to give players their money’s worth, and then some. To that point, Rockstar has revealed yet another free update for Grand Theft Auto Online that’s themed around the Independence Day holiday....

What’s better than making $1 billion? Making $2 billion! Grand Theft Auto V crossed the ten figure mark within 3 days of release, and Rockstar Games already has plans to speed the game on to its second billion through the currently fashionable cash-farming method of microtransactions in the multiplayer mode, GTA Online. Essentially, you spend real money (up to around $21 for GTA $1.25 million) to get game money that allows you to buy better weapons and vehicles....

There’s been a lot of speculation about the date Guild Wars 2 would release, and for that matter, even when an open beta would arrive for fans of the game. The popular MMO has been creating a lot of buzz, reaching our 25 Most Anticipated Games of 2012 list in a respectable position. Today, ArenaNet President Mike O’Brien was happy to welcome gamers to the ‘Year of the Dragon’, announcing that an open beta will take place around April this year - leading right into the full retail release of the upcoming MMO....

Only second to the calls for video games to wholeheartedly embrace diverse characters and storylines, the debate over whether or not games developed in this day and age need to have eye-popping visuals that your retinas can barely recognize is as alive and as polarizing as ever. On one hand there are those who make a case for big name publishers and developers with just as big development budgets to splash that cash on pretty visuals, while opponents to that suggestion are all about developers doing whatever they please and ‘if the 8-bit shoe fits’ et....

It’s been over nine months since we first got word that THQ had secured the rights to produce video games based on the 80’s cartoon, Voltron: Defender of the Universe. At the time, it was unclear what exactly the publisher had planned - and many Voltron fans braced for disappointment. Confidence in the project took another hit when Behaviour Interactive was announced as the game’s developer - the same team that underwhelmed Ghostbusters fans with the Sanctum of Slime....

Before its unexpected delay, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs was poised to be be one of the best-rated and highest-selling games during the next-gen launch window. Now that gamers are over the initial disappoint surrounding the delay and we are drawing closer to the rescheduled spring release of the open-world hacker vigilante game, excitement is starting to build once again. Although there isn’t an official release date for Watch Dogs yet, that doesn’t mean future players are any less interested in what the developers have planned for post-launch DLC packs....

Call Of Duty: Mobile is still ranked as one of the best mobile games out there, and probably the best shooter game for mobile devices. It boasts a surprisingly robust Battle Royale mode with lots of great features. Success in Battle Royale depends on a lot of factors, but among the most important factors is weapon selection. When picking weapons, one has to be mindful of the damage, mobility, fire rate, and accuracy....
