Tripwire Interactive’s Red Orchestra series is not for the Call of Duty crowd. While a lot of multiplayer shooters are about close quarters skirmishes, Red Orchestra puts tactics and strategy first. Rising Storm is a standalone expansion for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad - set in the Pacific theater of World War 2 - but it’s also a total conversion modification. Tripwire essentially took the foundation that was Red Orchestra 2, and built a relatively new game on top of it....

Could the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home feature a cameo from Daredevil? Marvel fans are entertaining the possibility after a casting call for the project hinted at a potential courtroom scene to be included in the story. The casting call was posted on Facebook by Catrett-Locke Casting, an Atlanta-based company. It seeks actors between 2o and 60 years old to portray a stenographer and attorneys in an upcoming film vaguely listed as ‘The November Project’....

While long a staple of the PC gaming world, MMOs have yet to make serious inroads on the console market. DC Universe Online and Destiny have been successful, and The Elder Scrolls Online will finally hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer. However, for the most part, it’s still early days for console-based MMOs, as developers struggle to transition MMOs’ complex systems to consoles’ more limited control schemes....

During ZeniMax Online Studios’ demo of The Elder Scrolls Online, which featured an in-depth look at the combat, world, and lore of the long anticipated MMO, they also announced something pretty unique for a PC-focused online experience that hopes to make a huge splash in an oversaturated market. ZeniMax has already explained how they plan to give MMO fans an experience that reminds them of the role-playing games of old, highlighted specifically by the inclusion of public dungeons, but this reveal was geared more towards the hardware side....

The Sims 4 is a game that arguably failed to live up to expectations out of the gate when it was released last year. The game was knocked for not having certain content that Sims fans had grown accustomed to at launch, such as swimming pools and the toddler life stage. Developer Maxis promised at the time that the game was a work in progress and would be rounded out through DLC in the future, but the poor launch did little to squash the rumors that The Sims 4 might be the final game in the series....

Many have made the argument that “the 3DS has no games,” but now 3DS owners have one more title to tide themselves over, Terry Cavanagh’s PC hit VVVVVV. For the uninitiated, VVVVVV is an old-school platformer through and through. Players are able to manipulate gravity to allow their character to traverse the dangerous terrain on an uncharted planet as they try to rescue their crew. What results is a game with charming visual style and an emphasis on pin point precision, lest the player be killed by a multitude of spikes and other deadly objects....

Coming out of E3 2012, we were fairly convinced that Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs was going to be something special. The concept of an interconnected world dominated by technology sounded relatively unique, and what the developer had to show of the game caught our interest more than most. More importantly, our later time seeing and eventually playing Watch Dogs revealed that Ubisoft was planning to build a franchise. That only became more clear when the game brought in massive sales numbers, on its way to the title of fastest selling IP of all time....

Gamers are one of the most fitting modern-day representations of the mythical Sisyphus. They all love to toil and labor digitally only to start over again eventually, usually in other games. EA is a hard company to like. During the ’90s and ’00s, the publisher was without question, at the top of its game. Not just in sports, but in nearly every genre. EA took risks and was successful because of it. Now, well, now they are kind of a joke. They are the poster boy of a company ruled solely by greed. The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie is the first example of a perfectly acceptable film adaptation of a video game. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who would go on to do the Resident Evil films, it captures the fun action of the game while bringing to life many fan-favorite characters like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Raiden. After a disastrous sequel, the franchise did not receive a third big-screen appearance. Now, twenty-five years later, a 2021 reboot is being prepped for release....

It is difficult to deny the popularity of superheroes in entertainment, but one area where they are most prolific is the realm of video games. Players have enjoyed countless titles about their favorite costumed crime-fighters. A number of those games have come from Marvel. From Software is notoriously known for creating stellar gameplay experiences with one common thing being multiple challenging boss fights that will truly test your skill, wit, patience, luck, and determination. In 1996, Nintendo published Game Freak’s Pokémon Red & Blue for the Game Boy. As far as JRPGs go, these two titles proved the genre could be accessible and also work on a more limited handheld system. To say these games were a success would be an understatement, as they outsold everything on the console not called Tetris.
