DriveClub’s launch has been anything but smooth. Evolution Studios’ racer showed huge amounts of promise, yet was hit with delay after delay. When DriveClub was finally released, the game itself was solid if unspectacular - when players could even get it to work. The title was plagued by connection issues at launch, leaving buyers with little more than the Tour mode to keep them occupied, while the promised dynamic weather mechanics and a much-lauded PlayStation Plus version were also absent entirely....

Had developer Turtle Rock Studios stuck to their original plan, much of the multiplayer gaming conversation right now would be about Evolve, the new cooper-petitive shooter. However, after the game shifted dates to 2015 for more polish, Evolve has taken a few steps back from the limelight. Nevertheless, Evolve still stands as one of the more intriguing next-gen releases, and its accolades have done nothing but reinforce that sentiment. It is for those reasons that many gamers have already started pre-ordering Evolve – that and the chance to participate in the “Big Alpha” later this month....

There is no shortage of variety when it comes to subscription models for massively multiplayer online games. MMOs like The Secret World and Guild Wars 2 are still staying above water with free-to-play models and the use of microtransactions; Star Wars: The Old Republic gives players the choice to play for free or gain perks by sticking with the monthly fee; and World of Warcraft is still raking in monthly subscription fees from millions of players almost nine years after its release....

After a lengthy wait, the time of Titanfall has arrived to give PC gamers a multiplayer shooter to add to their rotation, and award Xbox One owners a chance to put their new console to work on the platform’s most anticipated exclusive. Last year, Watch Dogs’ creative director Jonathan Morin said that despite the many opportunities to steal cars and race them around Chicago in Ubisoft Montreal’s newest IP, the studio wasn’t interested in trying to copy 2013 titan Grand Theft Auto V.
