In an incredibly impressive show of Tetris talent, one guy who calls himself “DogPlayingTetris” took first place in the 2020 Classic Tetris World Championship over the weekend. He also just happens to be 13 years old. If you didn’t know that this Championship was a thing, then you aren’t the only one! But at this point, very little should surprise you; there seems to be a World Championship for everything these days....
Grand strategy games might not be up everyone’s alley, but Crusader Kings III is such a great and intuitive introduction to this form of gameplay that players can actually contemplate the idea of getting into a series that has felt ridiculously convoluted for the longest time. The combination of better gamer design, informative tooltips, and helpful notifications has turned Crusader Kings III into one of the greatest strategy games ever made....
I went into Elden Ring wondering if FromSoftware would possibly be able to fill such a massive open-world game with the kind of difficult boss fights that have (in their own way) come to define the Soulsborne games and many of their spiritual spin-offs. After all, with so many options available to players and so many potential ways to “cheese” those epic encounters, surely Elden Ring‘s bosses would ultimately end up being just a touch easier than some of the hardest bosses we’ve seen in the studio’s previous games....

Because Destiny is a project bursting with ambition and massive in scope, it’s impossible to get anything done on a small-scale basis. Change one thing in the game for PvP, for example, and there has to be some consideration paid towards PvE at the same time. In essence, Destiny is a collaborative effort that requires the whole of Bungie’s staff, in addition to marketing and PR teams. Unfortunately, that massive scope and reach has put Destiny’s more private details at risk for leaks at nearly every turn....
Although last year’s E3 was originally thought to be all about the games, most attendees found the event to be a little lackluster. In the past, the launch of a new console was typically followed by an E3 overwrought with new games, but since these new machines were still in their relative infancy most developers weren’t ready to break out the big guns. Rockstar’s been working overtime to make sure that Grand Theft Auto 5’s re-release is more than a simple cash grab. Easter eggs in games are pretty common these days, and developers have taken them to the next level by creating cross-series easter eggs. Some are nods to another game in the same world, like mentioning Half-Life’s Black Mesa in Portal’s end credits tune, or they might be more like Mass Effect easter eggs appearing in Dragon Age: Inquisition. In either case, easter eggs are fun for developers and gamers alike....
A new trailer for Danger Close and EA’s forthcoming Medal of Honor sequel, Warfighter, has just been released, but rather than focusing on the flashy Frostbite 2 visuals this one is all about the multiplayer gameplay. Don’t misunderstand, the game still looks as glorious as it did during E3 2012, but now EA is trying to give multiplayer the attention it deserves. This particular trailer focuses on the Tungawan Jungle map, which is set in the Philippines....
With every new year comes a new edition of NHL, EA Sports’s award-winning hockey simulation. But with each new installment comes new promises that the series is taking a big step forward - sooner or later, making that a reality is going to demand some massive changes. Although NHL 14 won’t be releasing on the Xbox One or PS4, the adjustments made to the core gameplay - and yes, the fighting system - should offer fans enough improvement to make the purchase worthwhile....
A new trailer has been released for Activision’s upcoming super-powered open-world sequel Prototype 2 that is meant to prepare fans of the series for a longer, and hopefully more substantial, trailer’s release this Wednesday during GamesCom. Much like the first teaser trailer for the game, this video features classical music, characters soaring through the air, and a helicopter — a combination certainly worthy of being dubbed “awesome.” What gamers are preparing for is unclear, but, from the looks of the trailer, it can be assumed it involves a better look at the game in action....

Based on the series’ track record of breathtaking mo-cap and jaw-dropping settings, there’s little doubt that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will push the limits of console gaming fidelity.
