Before Call of Duty and Halo dominated the first person shooter scene, before Half-Life revolutionized video game storytelling, and before Quake and Doom wowed PC gamers with their moody, gothic aesthetics (not to mention revolutionary technical enhancements like, say, stairs), there was Wolfenstein. Wolfenstein 3D wasn’t the first FPS - that honor goes to either Maze War or Spasim, depending on who’s telling the story - but it was the first to really catch on with the public....

Revealed at the 2012 Tokyo Game Show, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z pairs legendary game creator Keiji Inafune with Team Ninja and Spark Unlimited for a pulpy, violent, comic book-inspired mash-up of ninjas, zombies and mechs. Seriously. Precious little is actually known about the game at present, but Tecmo Koei has released an announcement trailer along with a selection of screenshots, and they’re all kinds of awesome. During his long tenure at Capcom, Keiji Inafune created Mega Man and worked in various capacities on Onimusha, Resident Evil, Lost Planet and Dead Rising - it’s a hugely impressive record, and those are just the highlights....
