Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Nintendo’s Fire Emblem series has delivered decades worth of wondrous characters and storylines. The series continues to herald noble and honorable protagonists who unite people of all races and classes for a common cause. Fire Emblem’s history of lead characters largely featured characters of a noble and royal bloodline. However, more recent titles showcased heroes who have inherited neither royalty nor nobility and have only fought for a righteous cause....

We’re smart enough to know that it’s not wise to bet on anyone buy Batman coming out on top of a Gotham City brawl, but even we’re not sure that Bruce Wayne has enough skill to defeat the massive cast of enemies on hand for Batman: Arkham City. With many of the classic villains already revealed and detailed, we can now add Deadshot to the army of supervillains giving Batman the fight of his life in the streets of Arkham City....

With a new developer under its wing, most fans hope that Advanced Warfare will be able to reignite the series, but there’s also the possibility Sledgehammer Games may change the game’s identity altogether. After some 400 suspensions, a temporary suspension of specific services, and a quick-fix patch, the Diablo 3 auction is back online. Blizzard was forced to take the auction house online after a gold duping exploit began circulating the Internet. While the exploit required players be in possession of a sizable sum of gold already, those that could use the exploit sent Diablo 3 into a tailspin for a short period of time....

Review scores are an easily digestible way to determine whether you want to buy a game or not. While each publication differs slightly in their scoring system, one thing is for certain: those scores are for the convenience of their audience, not for game publishers to use to further their own ends. A certain amount of use by publishers is expected—if a game gets a good score, publishers are going to use that to promote the game....

Activision welcomed us to take a peek at the upcoming Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse game at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The demo was stationed inside a school bus that had been decked out with everything Family Guy, including logos and popular characters waving from the windows, and furnished with wall to wall leather interior seating, a beverage cooler and flat screen TV. The setup was impressive, but what about the game?...

With FIFA 12’s release right around the corner it’s high time we start talking brass tax, and by brass tax I mean cover athletes. While Wayne Rooney was already revealed as a global cover athlete, and a few countries had their particular athletes revealed, there were one or two spots open for the North American version of FIFA 12. Some speculation was done as to who might grace the cover — names like Chicharito and Clint Dempsey were being tossed around – but neither of those players made the cut....

There was a heap of news and info out of Seattle from franchise holder 343 Industries: news on the long-time favorite Warthog making a guest appearance in Forza 4, Halo: Anniversary stepping into the 3D universe upon its release in November, and tons more. Unfortunately, the “more” may not be as exciting for fans....

Hitman: Absolution will see assassin Agent 47 returning to what he does best after a long hiatus. IO Interactive hasn’t completely forgotten about the rather complex character and will be putting him back into the seedy underbelly of the world to relieve it of the sketchiest of individuals… for a price. This latest video for Hitman: Absolution is slightly different from the previously released Hitman: Absolution uncut trailer in that it features director Tore Blystad and gameplay director Christian Elverdam providing commentary to the various features and new abilities of the world’s greatest assassin....

Over the course of Metal Gear Solid’s decades-long history, the series has played home to many an iconic moment, character, feature, and item. The eponymous Metal Gears and the trademark exclamation point alert status stand out as two of the franchise’s most well-known, but some would argue that none can hold a candle to the cardboard box. As part of Konami’s E3 2014 booth tour, they gave us a closer look at the next chapter in Big Boss’ adventure, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain....

With most fans of The Last of Us Part II finishing up the game, some are saying that they want more in terms of closure to wrap up the story in a more meaningful way. As it turns out, there aren’t any plans for additional content, and fans shouldn’t be expecting any kind of DLC for The Last of Us Part II. While speaking on a spoilercast that is part of a YouTube channel called Kinda Funny Games, Naughty Dog VP Neil Druckmann said that there are currently “no plans” for any extra TLOU2 DLC....

There have already been quite a few gameplay videos of RAGE released by id Software and Bethesda, showcasing the various types experiences and situations that players will encounter during a romp through the campaign. One thing, up until now, that was never really presented in detail was the game’s cooperative gameplay. Shooters and co-op seem to go hand-in-hand nowadays and RAGE is no exception. RAGE will be focusing on a separate cooperative game story that isn’t precisely linked to the campaign, but will be drawing from missions and locations from the single player story to form arena-like gameplay that you and a buddy can fight through....

A few months back Free Radical Design co-founder Steve Ellis revealed that development on Star Wars: Battlefront was “a 99% finished game.” We’ve learned since then, leading up to and after the sad closure of LucasArts by new owners Disney, that LucasArts was trying to bring the already-canceled-once title back, and got pretty close too. In addition to Star Wars 1313, another game titled Star Wars: First Assault was supposed to be announced last fall and it was a predecessor for an eventual Battlefront 3....

Industry insiders and long-time fighter sim fans have been speculating about Street Fighter V for years. It’s been about six years since the last numbered installment in the franchise and many enthusiasts are starting to believe those rumors that the next game would take ten years to arrive. Telltale Games proved that their comic book adaptation of The Walking Dead wasn’t a fluke when they launched their first episode of their next graphic novel-turned-adventure game, The Wolf Among Us. But fans have been forced to wait months to see how the second chapter of Bigby Wolf’s investigation would play out - a delay the developer claims won’t be happening again. Now the second episode of the series, ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ has finally arrived, taking the series’ already mature tone and content into an even darker corner of the “Fables” universe....

Nioh 2 has only been out for about a week, and it is already being compared to classic titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls games. This, of course, means the game is incredibly challenging yet also uncommonly rewarding when a player “gits gud.” The game uses the familiar tiered mission set-up, where future missions are unlocked by completing the currently available missions. In addition to the main missions, there are also numerous side quests, with a good number of these missions being hidden....

Console exclusives are something of a controversial subject within the medium, in large part due to how they naturally exclude audiences from certain games. Just having the means to access a generation’s full list of exclusives can put someone out by upwards to $1000. There’s a financial element to gaming as a medium that will always gate-keep certain games so long as exclusives exist. At the same time, video game exclusives do have a positive effect on the quality of games on a whole....

The Wii was already a hit for a diverse set of gamers when it launched in 2006. The release of Super Mario Galaxy in 2007 only made the system stronger. It also made it even harder to find. The game is now over a decade old and remains trapped on the console. There was a digital release on the Wii U, but it was just a straight port and nothing was enhanced....

Guns, swords, cannons, blasters, explosives; weapons are an integral part of so many video games. There are so many iconic weapons throughout video game history that have left an impact on players. The hidden blade from Assassin’s Creed, the Plasma Cutter from Dead Space and the Blades of Chaos from God of War are weapons we all know because of how important they are to the game. Sometimes, what you need is a little comic relief though....
