But don’t sleep on Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a fantastic 3D platformer borrowed from LittleBigPlanet that could be Sony’s answer to Mario. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a big game, and Sony is positioning the protagonist to be a mascot of sorts for the PS5’s launch....

Nier Replicant is a remake/remaster hybrid of the original Nier that released in 2010, which was a spin-off of the Drakengard series. The Nier series is known for having multiple endings and a lot of deeper meaning than first meets the eye, so it’s not surprising that the games also feature a lot of easter eggs and hidden details that many players miss. Replicant offers a range of brand new content and changes, so there is something new for every player, regardless of whether they played the original or not....

SquareSoft was arguably at their creative peak when developing for the PlayStation 1. The original Final Fantasy VII in particular is a masterclass of game design from start to finish. Rarely does a game respect the audience’s freedom and time so much, offering a host of side content players can dig their teeth into at just about any time. The fact the first part of the remake would center on Midgar ended up being a subject of hot contention for fans, but Final Fantasy VII Remake does manage to meaningfully expand on the area in some regards....

Gabriel Belmont) is careening along on an out-of-control train with some form of nasty demon in-hand, he says, “I am the only one who lives forever.” In this one line, Lords of Shadow 2 forces its players to confront its dichotomy: the idea that, while playing as the Prince of Darkness should have its appeals, this is still a video game....

The development team at Twisted Pixel has made their name as being a tad…eccentric, with games like ‘Splosion Man and Comic Jumper proving that their sense of humor can be as refreshing as it is odd. And with the studio’s upcoming Xbox One launch title LocoCycle taking the idea farther than ever, the first trailer for the game doesn’t disappoint. Taking the story of an artificially intelligent motorcycle in a fight against an evil corporation into live-action might seem odd, but we can’t help but think that’s entirely the point....

The stunning visual fidelity of Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine is on full display in the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay trailer that debuted at PAX Prime 2012, and Konami has just released a selection of high-resolution screenshots taken from that footage. Additionally, a few new details about the game have come to light: Snake won’t always be able to rely on the cover of darkness in Ground Zeroes’ open-world, though he will have to put up with the inconvenience of loading screens....

At their E3 2013 Media Briefing earlier today, Microsoft, alongside series creator Hideo Kojima, offered the first look at Metal Gear Solid 5 in action. More specifically, they brought a live demo which showed fans what the game’s highly anticipated open world exploration would entail. While the presentation/demo was heavy on fast forwarding, it was nonetheless impressive. Fans have been asking for an open world Metal Gear experience for quite some time, and while this isn’t a totally open world Metal Gear, there were plenty of intriguing elements to the demo....

Earlier this week, we hypothesized that The Phantom Pain would finally be confirmed as either Metal Gear Solid 5, or part of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. We were led to believe such a reveal was forthcoming after Geoff Keighley announced he had an exclusive interview with Phantom Pain developer Moby Dick Studio’s CEO Joakim Mogren. However, the interview that transpired further fed the speculation and mystery surrounding Phantom Pain, and sent MGS fans even deeper down the rabbit hole....

Once seen as little more than a knock-off of Grand Theft Auto, the Saints Row series has undergone a massive transformation in the eyes of the public over the past few years. With Saints Row: The Third, the developers at Volition made their mission clear: to be offensive, crass, nonsensical and irreverent - so long as the end result was fun for those playing the game. Gotta film fast! The sequel to the 2020 surprise hit film Sonic the Hedgehog has officially begun production, which means fans no longer have to wonder whether their favorite blue blur will return. Of course, that’s not to say there isn’t still plenty of room for speculation. Director Jeff Fowler, who took the reigns of the first film and is also set to do the same with the sequel, made the official announcement March 15th on Twitter, which doesn’t sound official but it is....

The first Amnesia was a game dripping with atmosphere, tension and lore. The game’s environments were filled with tiny details and hidden documents for the player to find, when they weren’t fleeing for their lives. Frictional Games’ excellent 2020 sequel Amnesia: Rebirth is no different. While the story of Tasi Trianon’s struggle in the desert is compelling by itself, the game also contains a plethora of notes, journal entries and memory cylinders that will need to be found in order to truly understand what the grim events unfolding....
