Square Enix recently announced Life Is Strange: True Colors, the next installment in the beloved (and occasionally polarizing) Life Is Strange franchise. The protagonist will be Alex Chen, a young woman with the power to see and experience other people’s emotions. The developer that made Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange 2, Don’tNod, isn’t returning to create this installment. Instead, the studio responsible for Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, Deck Nine, will be making True Colors....

Ghost of Tsushima will go down as one of the PS4’s greatest accomplishments. If you’ve been wading through the leaked Black Friday ads of 2015 you’d notice the $299.99 PS4 Uncharted Bundle from Best Buy and GameStop. Obviously the cat is out of the bag on that deal, but you don’t need to wait for Black Friday because eBay is like a honeybadger when it comes to sales....

Those brief details may seem like a perfect description of what made Ridley Scott’s original Alien (1979) a success, but it certainly isn’t the kind of experience that a video game - even one bearing the Aliens name (or especially) - would seek to simulate. That’s something that the developers of Alien: Isolation are looking to change, by using modern technology to generate a Xenomorph capable of instilling the kind of fear and tension in a player that it did for movie audiences....

Assassin’s Creed 3 is already such a massive experience that it has to be split across two discs on Xbox 360. Now comes the official word that there will be yet more history to explore once Connor Kenway’s campaign has been completed. Assassin’s Creed 3 will be supported with a number of downloadable content packs, and they’ll all be available to players who invest in the game’s Season Pass. The Assassin’s Creed 3 Season Pass was first outed by a GameStop memo last July, though at the time, the game’s DLC was shrouded in mystery....

Open-world games give players a lot of things to do in between the story quests and missions that move the game along. These often end up being side-quests or mini-games, but no open-world game would be truly complete without some kind of collectible - something to make people ignore the path laid out for them in favor of an object that’s near useless until the rest of its kind are gathered together....

Fans of Destiny have been greatly anticipated the House of Wolves expansion for months now, and for good reason. Simply put, the add-on promises to be the most ambitious and largest expansion for Bungie’s popular shooter to-date. In anticipation of such a significant addition to the game, Bungie has recently released a sizable update, which was initially delayed due to technical problems. Unfortunately for Bungie, when they did finally release the update, it caused a major bug, so it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing on the path to House of Wolves....

The DLC for Injustice: Gods Among Us has been somewhat of a mixed bag so far. Along with a truly great addition, in the form of Lobo (and later Martian Manhunter), a number of controversial choices like Scorpion, Batgirl, and General Zod, weren’t as well received. Now in its third consecutive year, 2011’s Summer of Arcade is on-track to be the best yet, kicking off with the brilliantly-soulful Bastion, and last week’s release of the unique and inspired god game From Dust....

For a brief glorious moment the Mass Effect 3 single and multiplayer demo appeared to participants in the Xbox Live Dashboard preview before someone clearly realized their mistake and took it down. Before that time, though, some gamers were able to get a small glimpse of one single player mission as well as a detailed look at the multiplayer’s character customization options. According to those who experienced the demo, the mission on display was very similar to what was shown at E3 and GamesCom, with Commander Shepard fighting for his life as the Reapers invade Earth....

It was October 2011 when developer Piranha Games and publisher Infinite Game Publishing made the exciting announcement that a new MechWarrior game was still in development, an online-focused free-to-play title dubbed MechWarrior Online. It released for the public to play in open beta last October and in full this September. From the initial details on the game’s big plan of introducing a persistent universe known as ‘Community Warfare’, few of those touted meta game features have been realized....

The sixth and final behind-the-scenes video for id Software’s RAGE has been released, with the focus on the game’s art and sound design. As we all know, gameplay aside, if a game doesn’t look or sound cool, it can very much degrade the experience one can have. This last video from Bethesda will be showcasing the effort id Software is putting in to ensure the aural and visual acuity of RAGE will be one first person shooter fans will truly appreciate....

It is always difficult to look back at games that were so beloved several console generations ago - and expect them to stand up to their successors. We recently reviewed the first of the two Resident Evil HD updates, Resident Evil 4 HD, which managed to hold its own - despite some failings that could have been worked out before the game’s release on PSN and XBLA. Unfortunately, Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X HD does not fair quite as well....
