Leading the charge today are new looks at Volition’s way, way over-the-top Saints Row: The Third, Namco Bandai’s gravity-defying Inversion, and JForce: Unstoppable, an XBLA/mobile title from (who else?) JForce Games. The good people at Volition have not exactly been shy about showing off Saints Row: The Third (you’ve seen the latest Cherrished Memories trailer, right?...

Just hours after the first reports of a Borderlands sequel/prequel set in space hit the Internet, Gearbox Software and 2K Games have made it official, announcing and releasing the first gameplay footage, details and screenshots of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. With the game’s story taking place between the first and second installments in Gearbox’s acclaimed series, players will enjoy new locations, new classes - even a new developer. Most, if not all of the previously rumored details have proven accurate, with the player now stepping into the role of one of four new characters, working for the villainous Handsome Jack on Pandora’s moon....

Yes, that’s right, Call of Juarez, the game that used to be a unique niche title, has gone the way of a more modern FPS (including support for three-player co-op through the whole campaign) in order to appeal to a broader audience....

While much has been made of Destiny’s unique take on the cooperative campaign, developer Bungie has, for the most part, played coy with regards to their competitive multiplayer. We know from hands-on previews and the Destiny beta that multiplayer in Destiny comes in the form of The Crucible, but those who did not participate in either of those unique opportunities are mostly in the dark. Until now. As part of their Gamescom 2014 presence, Bungie has debuted a new trailer for Destiny that focuses exclusively on The Crucible....

The wait is nearly over for the very first expansion coming to Destiny players, taking them into The Dark Below. Fans are already eager to try their hand at the brand new raid, Crota’s End, but as proof that Bungie is looking to give their players a boost in story - while bringing plenty of gameplay additions and new content - the DLC’s launch trailer covers just about everything on its way....

Although we still don’t know what to make of the EA Access program, few can deny it offers a significant value to Electronic Arts fans. Through the program, gamers can unlock free games from within EA’s library, get significant discounts on new releases, and even play those new releases earlier than anyone else. To that end, EA has just announced that Dragon Age fans will be able to play the new game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, 5 days early through the EA Access program....

Polish developer Techland made one hell of a splash back in 2011 with a haunting trailer for its then-upcoming zombie game Dead Island. The reveal trailer, which unfolded in reverse and was accompanied by an elegiac score, played out like a Walking Dead short film, showing a family meeting tragedy during an island vacation suddenly overrun by the undead. The finished game proved to have almost nothing in common with that trailer beyond the presence of zombies, but the undead have been good to Techland – so it’s not surprising the developer stuck with what worked and went on to release the parkour-and-zombies survival horror game Dying Light earlier this year....

One of the most prevalent instances of this in the current gaming landscape is the use of the term “free-to-play.” More and more companies are turning to this sales method after seeing the profit it can attain. Announced last August as a new IP from Insomniac Games, Fuse – the product of a year’s retooling from Insomniac’s originally planned Overstrike – finally appears to be lighting up for its release later this month on May 28. Publisher Electronic Arts debuted a brand new trailer glossing over the four-player co-op shooter’s world-on-the-brink-of-domination storyline (the conveniently quintessential backdrop for its tagline: “Four Against Everyone”), and announced the upcoming availability of a co-op demo – releasing over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on Tuesday, May 7....

No oft-delayed title has quite held the level of irony as Ubisoft Shanghai’s I Am Alive, first announced in 2008 by Darkworks. Despite vague rumors to the contrary, in the form of leaked footage and screenshots, many gamers and industry vets had determined the title was more “Killed in Action” than I Am Alive. However, following on mid-spring speculation, we now know that I Am Alive will in fact see release - through digital marketplaces, PSN and Xbox Live (sorry PC players) this winter....
