To further echo that point, we bring you the news that noted Japanese magazine Famitsu has given Bethesda’s opus the coveted 40/40 score. Since Famitsu’s inception, only 17 games have received the coveted score, which requires that four separate Japanese reviewers love the game....

After nearly a full decade of MMOing, Blizzard has a lot of work to do to keep new players coming to World of Warcraft and to hold the attention of veterans of Azeroth. Some of the most memorable moments in the Pokemon games are seeing one’s favorite Pokemon evolve. The term “Power Levels” is almost as iconic to Dragon Ball Z than characters like Goku and Vegeta. Not content with releasing two main Assassin’s Creed games in one year, Ubisoft will be stepping up its Assassin game next year by expanding into the world of Hollywood with a movie based on the franchise. The first project on the production line for Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Assassin’s Creed will star Michael Fassbender in the lead role and will be directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown). Since first being scheduled for release on Memorial Day 2015, Assassin’s Creed has had its release date pushed back several times....

After delivering a satisfying loot-filled follow-up with Borderlands 2, few expected developer Gearbox Software would return to the well without some type of radical series reinvention. In fact, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said as much when asked whether we might see a Borderlands 3 in the near future. But, while Gearbox is officially on a break from the Borderlands franchise, publisher 2K Games is by no means done with it. Rather, they hope to continue the series’ namesake with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which is set for release later this year....

Popular game-tracking service Raptr has revealed their metrics for some this year’s most played games and have crowned a winner. While much of the Game of the Year talk will be focused on a dozen different games — from The Walking Dead to Halo 4 — the focus in terms of sheer gameplay hours (for a new 2012 game) has been trained solely on Borderlands 2. Obviously, as this is a service that tracks gameplay hours, it stands to reason that a game like Borderlands 2 — one that encourages players to not just play for hours upon end, but to start up new characters and start the journey all over again — would take the top honors....
