When Dragon Quest Builders launched in 2016 a lot of people probably dismissed it as a blatant Minecraft clone. However, if one dived in they would have found a fantastic blend of what makes Dragon Quest games great with some additional Minecraft elements. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than it had any right to be. When it comes to sequels, it’s always hoped that the downfalls of the previous entry, or entries, will be improved and in this case, it has been significantly upgraded....

The Witcher saga has always been lore heavy compared to most other fantasy worlds and the games only add up to the fan confusion. Each new game adds tons of new developments to the story that it’s easy to get lost. The Witcher 3 for example, takes six months after the events of The Witcher 2 ended. During that time, tons of crazy things have happened that drastically changed the state of the game world....

What exactly is a survival game? To be honest, the definition can be a bit loose. You could argue that titles like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Outlast are survival games since the main objective is to, well, survive. To us, the “survival” tag pertains more to games that require you to gather and allocate resources in order to live. These releases require you to find food, fuel, or other items to keep specific variables in check....

Piracy has been a problem in the gaming industry almost since the beginning. Over time game developers (and publishers) have attempted to counter this pernicious problem with various anti-piracy measures. Some of these anti-piracy techniques are more direct like the much hated always online DRM, and the change to optical media in the mid-90s. However, there are some developers that get clever with their anti-piracy methods. There are also some companies that accept piracy will occur no matter what techniques they employ, and instead find ways to trick people into admitting they are playing a pirated copy of their game....

For Battlefield 3’s final DLC package, appropriately titled End Game, developer DICE is pulling out the stops. Yes, they aren’t giving us the dinosaur-filled expansion we’ve been clamoring for since launch, but they are introducing some new and exciting modes, vehicles, and maps. Among the creamiest of the crop is the Air Superiority Mode, which is returning from a brief hiatus, and promises to do away with the riff raff and focus purely on the aerial experience....

Halo 4 won’t be releasing until November 6 later this year, but, if not their anticipation, fans can at least placate their eardrums a few weeks earlier. 343 Industries announced today that the Halo 4 soundtrack - 15 tracks clocking in at over 75 minutes - will be available on October 22. Composed by Massive Attack’s Neil Davidge, the Martin O’Donnell-less score is yet another element evoking 343’s new ownership of the Halo franchise....

Out of all the things that go bump in the night, what’s the one thing that’s taken hold of pop culture the strongest in the current generation? Zombies. Those shuffling, groaning, decaying, bloody corpses that cry out for human flesh and/or brains just can’t seem to stay away from anything nowadays. Movies, video games, comic books, TV shows, cartoons…it seems as though the walking dead are constantly popping up as the threat du jour for virtually any medium....

It’s an age-old question: who would win in a battle between Superman and Batman? DC Comics writers have sought to answer the question with various story arcs, alternate timelines, and one-off issues, but in each of those instances the fans have no agency in the matter. However, in NetherRealm Studios latest brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us, fans can finally put the issue to rest. Injustice: Gods Among Us takes DC Comics’ best and brightest, and puts them into the type of over-the-top fighting game only NetherRealm could pull off....

Spark Unlimited’s take on the Lost Planet franchise, while still clocking in as the third entry series, is doing a ton of things different from the games that preceded it. Beyond being a prequel, that tells the story of a small mining outfit on the once-again ice covered E.D.N III, Lost Planet 3 explores some new facets of gameplay and storytelling that fans of the series might not have been expecting, but are nonetheless pretty compelling....

As if it didn’t feel like Mass Effect 3 was invading every part of gamers’ lives already, Square Enix has just announced a downloadable costume for Final Fantasy XIII-2 that will be inspired by BioWare’s latest sci-fi RPG. It is unknown at this time who the costume will be for, Lightning’s sister Serah or new protagonist Noel, but both could fit into some N7 armor nicely. DLC costumes are nothing new to both Mass Effect 3, which has some costume cross over with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and Final Fantasy XIII-2, which has already announced a downloadable costume inspired by the Assassin’s Creed universe....

While the previous two Mass Effect games have offered an admirable mix of storytelling and shooter action, that isn’t to say that there aren’t plenty of ways to improve the formula for Mass Effect 3. Nothing is more frustrating than calculated and repeated combat, and that’s why the developers at BioWare are building the game around a concept of unpredictability. Whether it’s combat or traversal, players won’t have quite as clear a path to take with Mass Effect 3....

While the term “Cinderella story” is usually reserved for sporting events such as March Madness, one such esports story rose to prominence during the first two weeks of the 2020 Overwatch League Playoffs. To say the Washington Justice struggled during the regular season would be something of an understatement. They finished 19th overall in the standings, out of 20 teams, and ended with a record of 4-17. They had struggles with their damage players, who both retired in the middle of the season, and although they picked up replacements, the pandemic prevented them from meeting up to train together....

Back in February, we shared a video for a neat game idea that caught the attention of the Game Rant staff. It was called Police Warfare and the concept video was a pitch for a new and different take on the Call of Duty series that embraced the theme of cops and robbers. A teaser trailer for an upcoming iOS game from Re-Create Entertainment, The Corporate Race, has surfaced recently, and it’s full of more mystery than it is answers. The Corporate Race is a adventure title set in an office building that is due to hit the app store sometime this summer. The trailer seems to add more than just adventure as it appears there are elements of puzzle, maze and mystery in a first-person view....

Call of Duty: Warzone is an epic battle royale game that pits players and teams against one another in a huge map. Players have the option to customize their gameplay cosmetically in terms of their weapon, as well as the character that others see within the game.
