Microsoft recently announced that Alan Wake’s American Nightmare would be part of the publisher’s Xbox Live House Party promotion - along with other downloadable titles including Ubisoft’s I Am Alive. While an exact release date for the Alan Wake’s next journey into the night has yet to be unveiled, Remedy Entertainment has actively been promoting the project via a gameplay walkthrough at CES 12 as well as offering up candid interviews about the title’s improved gameplay, role in the larger Alan Wake story and now, game length....

After WB Games Montreal’s prequel story Batman: Arkham Origins received less impressive reviews compared to its predecessors, the pressure is on for Rocksteady Games to deliver a powerful final chapter to the studio’s superhero saga in Batman: Arkham Knight, the open-world title being released for PC and current-gen consoles. Batman: Arkham Knight was officially announced earlier this month with a cinematic trailer that showed Bruce Wayne fighting crime and corruption in Gotham City in an effort to live up to his family’s legacy....

Medal of Honor may be temporarily dead (again) but Battlefield lives on as Electronic Arts’ answer to Activision’s Call of Duty. While Black Ops 2 explored a near-future setting, a first for the COD series, EA and Swedish developer DICE have already been down that path with Battlefield 2142 over six years ago, a game that let players operate mechs alongside tanks. Since that PC-only release, the Battlefield series has stuck to a modern setting with the Bad Company games and the publisher’s fastest-selling game ever, Battlefield 3....

These are trying times for just about any video game franchise aspiring to to a blend of single player and online gameplay. There was a time when a game like Battlefield Hardline - coming from Visceral Games, and leaving the typical setting of the series behind - would have been pressured to live up to the Battlefield name. Monetizing a game beyond its $60 price tag has, for several years now, become one of the key goals amongst developers — with many using what are commonly known as microtransactions to urge gamers to put more money into the game in exchange for better in-game goods. It’s quite the tricky move, and can be wholly off-putting to gamers who see beyond the “incentives,” but has become almost essential for triple-A titles....

After weeks of speculation, Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes has been officially announced. Now that the new lineup of characters has been (at least partially) revealed and the game’s new features have been outlined, Marvel and Disney fans just have to wait until autumn to get their hands on the expansion to the hybrid toy/gaming platform.
