Rather than plopping malicious foliage down on the battlefield and then letting them do their thing, Garden Warfare lets players take full control of the series’ iconic plant types. And it also lets groups of friends get in on the zombie smashing fun. PvZ developer PopCap Games was on hand at E3 2013 to give us an extended version of their EA Press Conference demo. The demo followed the same format as the EA presentation, only with some added developer narration and a more in-depth look at the various plant abilities....

Domestic terrorism isn’t something that has been touched upon in fiction very often. There are a few properties that come to mind that deal with it, such as the film Arlington Road with Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins or the Lee Child novel, Die Trying. Over the years, adaptations in the world of video games have become a difficult beast to judge. It’s fair to say that The Elder Scrolls Online has had a turbulent start. The MMO, developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and published by Bethesda, launched for Windows PC and OS X in April to a lukewarm reception from critics. This faltering start has been followed up with delays to the home console versions of the game, and a series of issues with spammers, bots and bugs. Nevertheless, The Elder Scrolls Online has come out swinging....

New leaked footage strongly suggests and ultimately reveals a second secret race for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Only a few days after Naughty Dog asked fans whether or not they could survive for 12 weeks in the The Last of Us post-apocalyptic world, the developer is back with a live-action trailer for the title - one that confronts potential players with even more challenging life or death questions. GungHo’s Ninjala has seemingly come out of nowhere as one of the Switch’s more enjoyable multiplayer titles. This is particularly impressive, given that it’s multiplayer is free-to-play. Resident Evil is a game series that’s not for the faint of heart. It’s a survival horror shooter that tests players’ mettle and stomachs. There’s gore, zombies, and intense boss fights, and that was just back in 1998 when Resident Evil 2 was first made. Now, in 2019, there’s a remake that takes those classic pixels and elevates to them new, terrifying heights. It sticks to the classic story that die-hard fans fell in love with but is also timeless enough that a new batch of horror fanatics will surely love as well....

To many fans of Warhammer 40,000, one of the most appealing aspects of the game is its vast well of lore. Nearly everything in Warhammer is steeped in excess and is significantly more powerful than one may anticipate at first glance. Each faction has sizable chunks of lore for fans to digest, with no two factions being close to the same, even if they derive from the same planet or race....

For anyone but casual gamers, it should be common knowledge that movie and television spin-off video games are notorious for translating into buggy and uninspired gameplay experiences. After failing to make a splash with their first Grand Slam Tennis title, EA Sports is giving it the ole college do-over with the appropriately titled Grand Slam Tennis 2. Developed by EA Canada, and given a complete overhaul in terms of graphics, gameplay mechanics, and modes, Grand Slam Tennis 2 is trying to cement itself as yet another worthy franchise for EA. It’s not yet a yearly release like its Madden or FIFA brethren, but the (now) franchise does carry many of the qualities that make those sports series household names....

After years of waiting, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is less than two weeks away, and anticipation is beginning to reach a fever pitch. That said, hype for the next generation of video game consoles is also beginning to build, and given how the next-gen is only a few months out it’s odd that Rockstar has no plans to port its most popular franchise to either the Xbox One or PS4....

The existence of Just Cause 3 has been a poor kept secret to avid gamers, but that hasn’t made the wait for more details any less infuriating.
