Who is Edward Kenway? What is his relationship to Assassin’s Creed 3 protagonist Connor Kenway? And how does Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s story fit into the larger mythos? These are just some of the questions fans hope to see answered in Ubisoft’s forthcoming sequel. Prior to the unveiling of Assassin’s Creed 4, and Edward Kenway as its protagonist, there was some speculation that the next AC game might feature a female assassin as its protagonist....

The internet may still be reeling from the official confirmation and box art for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and the newly leaked announcement trailer, but for those who’ve been following the series’ fiction thus far, the revealed setting and apparent connections to past Assassins poses a few potential challenges. Fans were promised a brand new hero for the next game, and it looks like they’ll get it in the form of Edward Kenway....

After months (arguably years) of waiting, Bungie’s highly anticipated shooter Destiny is finally here for all to enjoy. And with it comes potentially dozens upon dozens of hour’s worth of content, or at least that’s what Bungie has been touting since the beginning. Unfortunately, as those who have already ready our Destiny impressions post know, the game’s story doesn’t take more than about 10 hours to complete. Moreover, once players hit max level they are left with little incentive to continue, beyond either grinding out new motes of light, testing their mettle in the Crucible, or just exploring the landscapes of Venus or Mars....

It may have been nearly eighteen months since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, but fans of the series are still waiting for a couple of long-promised bits of content; the PC version of the game and the much-anticipated online-enabled multiplayer heists. Both have been delayed several times, but it seems that they’re finally set to release over the next few weeks. Earlier this morning, Rockstar announced that the PC version of GTA V will now release on April 14 — a few weeks shy of the March 24 release that was previously scheduled....

The inFAMOUS brand has always been recognized as one of the stronger exclusives in Sony’s stable, but with the impending launch of the PlayStation 4, inFAMOUS: Second Son is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated launch titles. And with the claims being made about the launch line-up in development, that’s saying something. Once again throwing a super-powered player into an open world and left to do as they please, Second Son will also be bringing something new to the series....

Once upon a time, Mega Man was one of the biggest franchises Capcom had. The super fighting robot starred in dozens of games, spin-offs, cartoons, and comics, and Capcom seemed perfectly happy to keep pumping out games starring the Blue Bomber. But when the highly anticipated Mega Man Legends 3 was canceled and Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune departed from Capcom, the series went quiet. Capcom published a critically derided mobile game or two, but it seemed as though Mega Man was missing in action....

Now that Mortal Kombat X has released for all fighting game fans to enjoy, most figured that the NetherRealm Studios hype train would die down. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The MK X developer has a robust DLC schedule planned, and that includes new character reveals, gameplay trailers, and fighting game variation breakdowns. Up next for Mortal Kombat X is the release of the Tanya DLC bundle and Klassic Pack 1 costume add-on, both of which will hit for Kombat Pack owners tomorrow, June 2nd....

In a feat of testing that GlaDOS herself would be proud of, Valve’s Portal 2: Perpetual Testing Initiative has racked up over a million tests across 35,000 user-created maps. Very impressive indeed, since it’s only been a few days since the software was launched! To celebrate this great success, Steam is rewarding players with a Weekend Workshop Sale offering 66% off of Portal 2, 33% off Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and plenty of Team Fortress 2 items for 50% off....

Good things come to those who wait, and while we use the term ‘good’ loosely in this context, the first announcement trailer for Saints Row 4 has arrived. It may be brief, but the trailer proves Volition is intent on delivering the same blend of laughs, carnage, fireworks and outrageous game design that made Saints Row: The Third a success. With superpowers pulled right out of inFAMOUS, Prototype and Crackdown, and an attitude (and love of dance) that can only be found in this series, it looks like Saints Row 4 will be keeping fans happy....

In the eight short months following the release of Skyrim, the latest instalment of Bethesda’s well-known The Elder Scrolls franchise, several welcome updates have been released. Over time, extra features have also been introduced, such as “kill-cams” and horse-mounted combat. Today Bethesda continues that trend, releasing a beta version of the upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 1.7 update for Steam users who have opted-in to receive beta updates. It’s time for our bi-weekly Star Citizen crowdfunding update! At the end of June, the record-breaking community-driven financing campaign hit $47 million dollars and the community had voted to keep the stretch goals coming. If you recall, the initial budget for the ambitious open-universe space sim was for $20 million and by the end of summer we’ll be at 2.5X times that. In the latest ‘Letter from the Chairman’ blog update, the game’s founder Chris Roberts (Wing Commander) touched briefly on the current status of the game and talked about where we’re currently sitting in terms of the funding stretch goals....

While any game these days worth its salt is certain to receive at least a few updates and expansions post-launch, BioWare is getting more than a little carried away with the Game Update 1.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The number of changes and improvements are almost too numerous to list, so the development team has decided to release an in-depth trailer simply showing how different the game will be once the update arrives....

It’s been a little less than a month since Eidos Montreal blew the lid off Thief 4, revealing that the master thief known as Garrett will return. Since then, Eidos has clued gamers into the Thief 4 development process, explaining how Garrett’s design evolved over time, and confirming that non-lethal playthroughs are possible (sure to assuage Thief purist’s fears). Now, a new trailer for the game has been released (seen above) to better introduce new players to the character of Garrett....

Dozens upon dozens of developers have tried their hand at unseating Call of Duty as the reigning king of the multiplayer world. Some have done so by aping COD’s formula as best they can, while others deploy the opposite approach, offering something new and different. But maybe that’s not the answer to unseating Call of Duty, or, at the very least, stealing away some of its market share. Perhaps the answer rests with a different approach, one that Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall appears to have in spades....

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Assist Trophies are items that can summon a randomly selected character to as the name entails, assist the player in combat. The characters summoned by Assist Trophies are all notably not playable in any capacity and can only be summoned through the use of the item. However, as we’ve seen through Little Mac’s promotion from Assist Trophy to playable character between Brawl and Smash Bros....
