It’s pretty astounding to see how far Minecraft has come since it officially launched in 2011. The game has actually been out and available for people to play for a while longer than that, but for the sake of setting records and gaining mass appeal, the credit has to be given to the wider official release (and subsequent re-releases). The game has a diverse range of fans and players of all ages, with the open-world, create-what-you-want design being a huge contributing factor to the game’s success....

The first batch of Call of Duty: ELITE maps rolled out for Modern Warfare 3 players earlier in the week. Surprisingly, they are restricted to just one Gamertag, meaning that only the premium ELITE subscriber who downloaded the maps can use them online. Other gamers playing on the same console are out of luck. Unusually enough, this contradicts the terms of the download, which clearly state that the content will be available to all users of the first console the content is downloaded to....

While Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 will certainly be battling each other this fall season for the title of most “awesome” release, another unexpected title has thrown its hat into the ring with a new trailer. Long considered a throwaway, humorous property, Saints Row: The Third wants gamers to know that not only is this a title with wit, but one that is better than its competitors. In fact this new trailer for Saints Row: The Third combines many of the styles that are implored in the Battlefield and Modern Warfare trailers, only with a twist....

The Dragon Shout app is comparable to the Batman: Arkham City Official Map app, which was an interactive map that gave tips to Riddler challenge and trophy locations – extremely helpful, as there was an inordinate amount of them. One major difference is the Dragon Shout app is more customizable; allowing players to drop map markers and create journal entries about locations. Users can even share tips with friends and the Dragon Shout community, as the app is touting real time chat....

When LucasArts revealed Star Wars 1313, many fans speculated that the game’s main character, a gruff Han Solo-looking fellow, was simply a placeholder character. Corroborated by more than a few rumors, the prevailing sentiment was that Star Wars 1313 was being positioned as a Boba Fett game, but LucasArts was not yet ready to announce it as such. Then, after Star Wars 1313 was shelved, news broke that Star Wars 1313 was, in fact, a Boba Fett game....

December 2011 was not a good month for The Last Guardian. Sony stepped up to confirm rumors that Team Ico’s visionary designer, Fumito Ueda, had left the company, and that the game’s Executive Producer jumped ship to head up a London studio focused on making social network games. Capping it all off, GameStop began contacting customers with The Last Guardian pre-orders, claiming the game had been cancelled (it hadn’t, and GameStop apologized for the error)....

Transformers: War for Cybertron was one of our favorite titles in 2010 (read our review). Of course, High Moon Studios followed-up the inspired “Robots in Disguise” experience with a lackluster Dark of the Moon movie-tie in (read our review), likely due to pressure from parent company Activision; however, the developer is now in the final stages of prepping a proper sequel, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - set for release at the end of August....

For anyone following the development of Activision and High Moon Studios’ sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron, Optimus Prime has been unseated as the poster boy. Instead, Grimlock is leading the charge in the marketing efforts behind Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and it’s difficult to find reason why this shouldn’t be the case. He’s the leader of the Dinobots and they’re a big part of the story behind Fall of Cybertron....

While gamers have been able to control their favorite superheroes on the small screen for years, it’s really only in the last couple of decades that next-generation consoles and developers have been able to truly bring these comic characters to digital life, with the last decade especially featuring some of the best superhero games fans have ever seen. As fans wait patiently for new entries in Rocksteady’s DC Universe - namely Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League in 2022 - or Sony’s hit Spider-Man franchise that will be releasing additional Miles Morales based gameplay, it’s important to look back at the last decade to really see the growth of superhero games over the last decade, as ranked by Metacritic review scores....

Video games are much more fun with a group of friends, and this has held true for a very long time. While gaming has very much evolved since the early days of couch co-op, there are still plenty of games that offer that experience as well as the ability to play online with friends. The PlayStation’s library of games is no stranger to bright and artistic titles, though none in recent years have been quite as vibrant as the action-adventure title Concrete Genie. Although developer Pixelpus have only developed one other game, 2014’s Entwined, they managed to knock it out of the park with their follow-up title and have created a truly beautiful experience for gamers. The story has become a surprisingly important aspect of Resident Evil in recent years. While the overarching plot and rotating cast was always one of the franchise’s main draws, Resident Evil 5 wrapped up the main Umbrella story arc and Resident Evil 7 essentially reset the board. Which makes it all the more surprising that Resident Evil Village is the most story driven game in the series yet. Resident Evil Village’s story is a highlight of the game that manages to find some real pathos, but there are a number of threads left hanging by the time credits roll....

The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of strange character encounters, supernatural mysteries, and the occasional train robbery. Red Dead Redemption 2’s main story alone takes players an average of 60 hours to complete.
