In addition to live, hands-off demos during both Microsoft and Electronic Arts’ Media Briefing, Respawn Entertainment and their new, multiplayer-focused IP Titanfall were out in full force. While we didn’t get a chance to go hands-on with the game, but we did see an extended demo on the E3 2013 show floor. Much of what was shown at the prior press conferences was on display during this behind-closed-doors demo with a focus on showing more of the game in action....

The space sim genre has had a strong resurgence of late, with Star Citizen breaking records for video game crowdfunding and Elite: Dangerous developer David Braben winning the Pioneer Award at this year’s Game Developers Choice Awards. The genre, once seen by publishers as niche and unprofitable, is steadily heading to a return to the mainstream appeal it had during the heyday of the Wing Commander series. Indeed, one of this year’s most anticipated games is PS4 timed exclusive No Man’s Sky....

Tim Schafer and his video game development house Double Fine Productions not only put Kickstarter on the map as a viable crowd-sourcing option for bringing video games to life that otherwise wouldn’t get their deserved attention from major publishers, they’ve also paved the way for a variety of other, more historic properties to make triumphant returns as well. We’re beginning to see the (hopeful) return of space combat sims with projects including Starlight Inception; Leisure Suit Larry and series creator Al Lowe have two weeks left to reach the $500,000 goal (currently at $370,000); Shadowrun and Wasteland are both getting authentic sequels and YouTube’s Yogscast are creating their own game too!...

Not because it was ever in doubt, but id Software’s Doom Eternal once again proved that Doomguy is gaming’s most kickass protagonist. Also known as The Marine, Doom’s legendary hero has been putting demons back in their place since 1993, and Doom Slayer’s missions have only gotten gorier and more awesome over the last two and a half decades. While he does occasionally show his face and even has had a few names thrown his way, Doomguy primarily serves as a surrogate for players....

The Dishonored series is much beloved by its fans and boasts a sizable library of content, with two main franchise titles, a handful of DLC, and most recently a standalone adventure featuring the vocal talents of Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen, and Robin Lord Taylor. In addition to its stellar gameplay mechanics, Dishonored has built an enrapturing world for players to explore in the Empire of the Isles. With its grim aesthetic, steampunk flair, and engaging characters, there are a lot of reasons to love these games....

The Mass Effect trilogy has one of the biggest fanbases in the gaming industry today. Bioware was able to draw in a variety of people to the RPG series with many beloved companions and fascinating alien species. The debut of the Hyrule Warriors series was a surprise to fans of both Zelda and Dynasty Warriors alike. The historical-fiction, army warfare format of the latter seemed ill-fitting for a traditional fantasy-RPG tale. But on closer inspection, the sprawling history of Hyrule and its plethora of recognizable characters were exactly the ingredients Koei Tecmo needed to cook up a worthwhile Zelda adventure in their own style. With the surge of Zelda fever that followed Breath of the Wild, Nintendo thought to give the Warriors line another go – this time set in the BotW timeline(s) – and in doing so blessed everyone with a fount of meme material....

Final Fantasy is a series that’s best known for its fantastic characters, its exceptional music, and its wonderful storytelling. As the franchise has grown in popularity, it has branched out into a number of other mediums that help to further develop its lore. There are novels based on the series, a selection of board games, and several movie and anime adaptations as well. Many fans will have likely checked out Advent Children and The Spirits Within already, but there are plenty of other movies that share similarities with the Final Fantasy series....

Legendary Pokemon are considered the strongest, most epic deities of the Pokemon world, with extremely high stats, access to the most powerful moves, and local lore that speaks to their prowess and might. Many Legendaries are the subject of tales worshipping them and their strength. However, in many regards, there are some Mythical Pokemon — which are typically small, cute, and spritelike — that are arguably more impressive. Their abilities aren’t always related to sheer strength, but they are immeasurable in terms of power....

Ash definitely hasn’t caught em all yet in the anime and in fact there are so many Pokémon that he still needs to catch it seems like he’ll never complete his pokédex. He also is known to release some of his Pokémon every now and then which makes collecting all of them an even harder task. Ash hasn’t even managed to collect every starter Pokémon so how can he possibly hope to catch every Legendary?...

Many Sony exclusives are starting to see PC ports and PlayStation 5 enhancements recently, which has stirred discussion around Bloodborne and whether it would receive the same treatment. In October 2016, the much-awaited sequel to Titanfall was released. Similar to auras, equipment cards can provide a creature with numerous beneficial abilities and stat increases. American esports organization 100 Thieves is poised to make a return to the professional Counter-Strike world. In a recent YouTube video, 100 Thieves CEO Matthew “nadeshot” Haag states that the organization is coming back to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive “in full force.” This comes about a year and a half after their first venture into the esport, which ended abruptly in early 2018. 100 Thieves’ original Counter-Strike team was a Brazilian lineup which, while highly skilled, was surrounded by controversy....
