The final Pokémon from the Tao Trio, Kyurem is now appearing in five-star raids. Here are some tips on how to take it down and catch one of your own.
July has been and continues to be a jam-packed month for Pokémon GO. From GO Fest to timed research to the reassessment and rearrival of Team GO Rocket. Plus, a couple of things that have leaked over from June. One of those things has been the gradual addition of the Unova’s region Tao Trio.
Reshiram was the first to debut in-game via five-star raids and was then followed by Zekrom, and now the final Pokémon of the three, Kyurem has arrived. Kyurem will appear randomly in five-star raids for the next two weeks and trainers should get a notification if a nearby gym is hosting the legendary Pokémon. However, for anyone struggling to find a Kyurem raid, there will be a special Raid Hour at 6 pm on Wednesday, July 8. During this time, almost every gym will feature a Kyurem raid.
Finding Kyurem at this moment in time is the easy part. It’s defeating the powerful Pokémon and adding it to your roster that will be tricky. As with any and all Pokémon, Kyurem has its weaknesses and therefore, certain Pokémon that will perform better against it in battle than others.
Since Kyurem is a Dragon/Ice-type, fairy-types will perform pretty well in these raids. High-powered Granbull, Gardevoir, and Togekiss are strong choices to bring into a Kyurem battle. Be wary of that last one though as a Kyurem with ice attacks at its disposal will make short work of Togekiss. Keep an eye on the line-up Pokémon GO suggests as that can often tip off what move types a raid Pokémon knows.
Kyurem’s ice-typing should also not be ignored. Rock and fighting-types will perform well against the final member of the Tao Trio. Since Terrakion ticks both those boxes, if a trainer has one with a high CP at their disposal, then their inclusion is a must. Rhyperior, Tyranitar, Lucario, and Machamp are also strong choices for a raid battle against Kyurem. A roster featuring the Pokémon mentioned above, along with some allies to raid with, should have Kyurem beaten and captured in no time.
