Sega dropped some exciting news at this year’s Comic-Con that is sure to please longtime fans, if the overwhelmingly positive reception it received at the annual Sonic Boom party was any indication.
Included as one of the many video game cameos in the upcoming Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph is none other than the blue speedster Sonic the Hedgehog – but what would one cameo be without sending some love the other direction? Ralph will be included as a playable character in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed along with his own set of moves and vehicles, plus a Wreck-It Ralph themed level.
The upcoming racing title made some waves with fans thanks to the inclusion of Nights Into Dreams themed levels and characters. Loyal gamers have been clambering for Nights to make a return to consoles (which is happening this Fall on XBLA and PSN), and they were treated to some of the level and vehicle footage at the party — cue uproarious applause. This, combined with Wreck-It Ralph, should add even more incentive to check out Sega’s next racing title.
The thing that really got fans going, though, was the announcement that the long awaited Sonic Adventure 2 will finally be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PSN in the near future. Fans of the series have eagerly awaited this acclaimed title since the original Sonic Adventure was released nearly two years ago.
Sega made some nice waves at this year’s Comic-con, making sure to appease fans both old and new and taking note of their wants and needs — something that will benefit the company in the long run since their console days are long gone and recent Sonic games have been ranging mostly from meh to god-awful. Listening to their audience can only bode well for them.
No word yet on when Sonic Adventure 2 will drop, but stay tuned to Game Rant for any new updates.
